from information at avatarspirit.net; it is the last of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The creators did mention that more shows could be created within the avatar universe. And there is also the movie coming out.
384672, so.....is shit gonna get resolved?
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Wed Jul-09-08 12:34 PM
384707, I believe so.

It is just the end of Aang and the gangs story.

yeah, this is not the way to treat the property that's supposed to be Nick's "Harry Potter." It seems they've futzed this up royally, but at least they're showing them. Unaired eps are already on DVD. I'd kinda resigned myself to just seeing it for the first time when the boxed set comes out in September.

box
384757, i REALLY don't get Nick's treatment of the show...
Posted by Calico, Wed Jul-09-08 05:23 PM
or others shows like Spongebob and Rugrats, which have honestly made them millions...them and CN kinda piss me off with thte way they disregard their own audiences sometimes...
384816, interesting to know
Posted by lfresh, Wed Jul-09-08 10:11 PM
because i just watch this show
and didn't know all the shows have been treated this badly

i do feel a bit jerked around
AND i have dvr but they didn't get their programming correct for the last few episodes so i had to hunt around online to see them
ridiculous

That Azula/Zuko showdown probably beats it. Visually it's was incredible.

But yeah, Avatar Aang is/was unf*ckwitable.

Just for the animation and scenery alone. A whole host of good people probably bodied themselves creating those realistic scenes.

387836, Avatar Aang ain't nuttin to f- wit! (spoils)
Posted by box, Sun Jul-20-08 07:17 PM
I found it interesting how once Aang hit Avatar state, Ozai couldn't run fast enough. I guess after a hundred years with no Avatar people forgot just how powerful a being the Avatar is. The most powerful that Ozai would ever be got squished by this little boy.

Really, though, usually a show will put up this really tense, see-saw battle that the hero has to find some clever way to win. But this show (smartly) took it in a different direction. It understood itself in that the Avatar is powerful enough to bring balance back to the world, no doubt. The question has never been could the Avatar beat Ozai, but could Aang master the elements and truly become the Avatar. The twist was that, once he became the Avatar, the conflict was could he still be Aang, the little monk boy who wouldn't hurt a fly, literally. And it turns out that his incorruptibility is what allowed him to defeat AND punish Ozai.

Very smart writing that stayed true to all it's characters to the very end when it would have been easy to cop out for visceral satisfaction. Love it.

388444, am I the only one who felt sorry for Azula?
Posted by soulgyal, Tue Jul-22-08 12:39 AM
388450, nah...i kinda felt sorry for her too...
Posted by Calico, Tue Jul-22-08 01:21 AM
they gave her character more depth in the movie...we see she's just intent on being ruler. but there's nothing else, and without trust, friends or fam, she goes crazy...i wish we could have seen Zuko shoot blue glame or electricity durin that fight...

anyway, all that said, she got what she deserved...., the scenes of her just banishhin folk were great too..
388512, after thinking about it, I don't think he could have shot blue flame...
Posted by soulgyal, Tue Jul-22-08 08:58 AM
I think the flames being blue came to represent a darker more tainted firebender. Zuko was always pure and true. His flames could have never been blue.
388515, * finger snaps *

388513, Oh. hell. nah.
Posted by MarauderOL, Tue Jul-22-08 09:00 AM
That girl was BORN a demon.

When she was lashing out at the end of the fight, I just loffed and loffed.

Good riddance.
388517, I don't think the creators had to show that there was more pressure on her..
Posted by soulgyal, Tue Jul-22-08 09:05 AM
to perform and be perfect, be a prodigy than Zuko. Zuko never had to worry about being forced to be violent. Plus he always had the love of his mother. Azula ain't really have anybody, or she didn't ever know it.

The way she was raised was a way that told her that the only way to win in life was to be perfect, emotionless, and powerful. And it drove her crazy in the end that Zuko had always managed to have what she couldn't (people who loved him), and that even in her perfectness and seemingly state of ultimate power, she still couldn't defeat him because of the one thing that he had that she didn't... Other folx that would whoop that azz FOR him.

There was great symbolism in Azula going a-muck, crazy with fire, and Katara's waters being the only thing that could make that crazy bitch sit the fuck down.

I still feel sorry for her pitiful, ass tho.
388521, If I remember the flashbacks to their youth
Posted by MarauderOL, Tue Jul-22-08 09:13 AM
she CHOSE to turn her back on the love and support of her mother. And instead follow in her daddy's footsteps toward ultimate and merciless power. It was a "sparkle" in her eye right from the beginning.

She could have very been "cursed" from her father with that unending blood lust.

Be that as it may, evil sucks. So buhbye, Azula.
388792, I think what they showed...
Posted by box, Tue Jul-22-08 08:29 PM
...was how fragile she always was.
Personally, I knew it was about to hit the fan at Boiling Rock. When Mai and Ty Lee turned on her, I saw her snap and understood the unraveling started right there. She built her entire self on the power of fear to achieve everything she wanted. And all it took was one person to not fear her, to inspire another not to fear her. And the thing is, Azula is quite brilliant, she realized that the dominoes had begun to fall and there was no stopping them. That's why, even though she could have ruled the Fire Nation for years on the fear she'd established (minus Aang and Zuko, of course) she became desperate. Her ability to plan so far ahead made it obvious to her that her downfall had begun, that she'd lost her power.

I would feel sorry for her if she were a victim of something other than herself, but it was all her doing. As mentioned, she could have chosen her mother's way over her father's, but she didn't. No sympathy, just maniacal laughter and a warm sense of satisfaction.

388524, One complaint with the Azula/Zuko battle
Posted by MarauderOL, Tue Jul-22-08 09:24 AM
The way Katara feel back the WHOLE time(yes I know he asked her to), but then ran in on cue on some "Hey Zuko, is it time for me to be a liability to you now?"

It just felt cheap as hell.
388525, lol! Azula was bound to try and get her either way....damn..

I don't give a good damn about that other stuff.

But I will say this on the subject..... if that gal had gone with Zuko and broke Aang's all powerful heart!!! * lip quivers and eyes water *
388533, Aang was like...3 years old. What he even know about loving girls?

I see some people thinking Nick is ending the show early, but it has always been the intention of the creators to end it after 3 seasons. They had a set story that they were confident in and didnt want to push it beyond that, kind of like most anime creators.
388837, I think the biggest complaint
Posted by MarauderOL, Tue Jul-22-08 11:28 PM
comes from the TERRIBLE job Nick did with the sporadic airing of the episodes. Especially this last season. If you can even call it that.

Anyone not seeing this show ending after 3 seasons, one for each book, didn't really understand the premise of the show to begin with.

SDCC2008: "Avatar" Panel Report
By Harley
07-26-2008, 8:17 AM
Toon Zone sat in on the panel for Nickelodeon's Avatar the Last Airbender, which was dominated by a screening of parts 3 and 4 of the "Sozin's Comet" season finale. In attendance were show co-creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, and director Joaquim Dos Santos. The panel was moderated by Roland Poindexter, VP Original Programming, Animation.

The screening received a standing ovation from the audience, and the panelists noted that 5.6 million people watched the last episode of Avatar. They added that the series will be run in order on Nicktoons very soon, and stated that this is not the last time Avatar will have a panel at Comic-Con. In response to a question, the creators confirmed that the skill learned from the lion turtle can be performed more than once.

They set out to make a show that they wanted to watch and worked for kids, teenagers and adults. The show was also always designed to be a trilogy.

They're working to get a soundtrack to the show released, but there's nothing confirmed yet.

An audience member asked if there was any truth to the rumor that they were signed for six seasons. Bryan confirmed this rumor was false, although there was a parody "Book 4: Air" trailer shown that used badly animated fan art from the Internet.

An audience member asked if they would ever resolve where Zuko's mother is, and was told that they hope to some day.

The live-action movie is also to be a straight re-interpretation of Book 1.
