Can't really be mad at Gondry, ever. It definitely wasn't a hunched over belly busting, tears rolling comedy and it wasn't a bizarre wtf is going on Gondry type film either.
It's like Gondry doing a family film. There are the funny parts and the heartfelt parts. Overall, it has a raw loose acting feel to it that might seem amateurish, but feels a bit more like reality. It's also reminds me of some of my favorite movies from the 80s. I couldn't help but think of Batteries Not Included once I caught on to the plot.
It was a decent film, but nothing super moving like I felt Eternal Sunshine was. It's inspirational though.
