Scorcese DOES, however, make LOTS of >MEDIOCRE movies that the praised for being great. I been >noticed that. > Like what? I admit not all his movies were great, but what other mediocre ones does he have? I can only think of two right off hand, next to the Departed: After Hours and Kundun. He has way more great films.
>Good casts only play out in good MOVIES. > >If the movie is mediocre, I don't care about the cast. > Nah. Careers have been made from amazing performances in mediocre movies.
>I mean, Marky Mark...that nigga was comic relief. That's >all. He didn't do shit but bark and talk shit the whole >movie. That's it. I almost felt like I was watching >'The Naked Gun' everytime I seen him on screen, because he >was so fucking contrived, it felt like slapstick comedy. > I agree here. How he got an Oscar nom I'll never know.
>And Jack Nicholson basically played himself. > Hells no. I actually can't think of one other movie where his role is similar to the one in The Departed.
>Oh, and the psychiatrist love interest bullshit was >very, very, meh. > Yes. Obviously the point to it was to show how another person (the psychiatrist) was out there living a double life fucking Damon and Dicapprio, and even though they were both living double lives they didn't know that someone else was doing the same thing to them emotionally. That's a good idea. But the execution of it was really forgettable, almost to the point where it seemed thrown in half-heartedly, since the love story doesn't seem to go anywhere.
