278929, Name a third movie of a trilogy that was as good as the first movie.

I honestly can't think of one.

But I'm a dreamer nostalgic with the state of mind..." - Nas
278930, Some would say LOTR
Posted by stylez dainty, Fri May-04-07 12:04 PM
Not me though. I really like the trilogy, but the first is easily the best one to me, just like the books.

If Harry Potter was a trilogy, though, the third movie is definitely better than the first.
278933, World of Apu

It's most people's favorite. Though I like Aparajito (the 2nd) the best.
278935, Return of the Jedi

279473, Not a popular opinion, but I agree..
Posted by Coatesvillain, Sun May-06-07 07:54 PM
I've always told people that the first was boring as hell to me and was the weakest of the original trilogy.
278938, Goldfinger
Posted by SoulHonky, Fri May-04-07 12:35 PM
Probably even better than Doctor No.

L'Eclisse (L'Avvenutra; La Notte; L'Eclisse)
Ashes and Diamonds (Generation; Kanal; Ashes and Diamonds)
Good, Bad, and the Ugly (Dollars Trilogy)
Human Condition 3 (Human Condition Trilogy)
World of Apu (Apu Trilogy)

Other trilogies which I can see others thinking the 3rd is as good as the 1st, but don't think so myself:

Three Colors: Red (Three Colors Trilogy)
Silence (Through a Glass Darkly; Winter Light; Silence)
Veronika Voss (BRD Trilogy)
Testament of Orpheus (Orphic Trilogy)

279000, Die Hard and maybe Indiana Jones

Fist Ful Of Dollars
For A Few Dolars More

These are said to be a sort of trilogy since Clint is the same person in each one practically (i.e. man with no name etc, Lee Van Cleef)

>what about Pale Rider

they cheated with that one..its like doing Godfather 3 15+ years later (even though G3 comleted the trilogy..falsely)..even though a worthy flick/western...20 years too late though imo. The Dollars trilogy

279734, Austin Powers Goldmember
Posted by krayzeeboi38, Mon May-07-07 12:47 PM
I still think that this movie is the most underrated, underappreciated austin powers flick. yes, the jokes were all ripped off from the previous two, and beyonce was annoying as hell.. but still, it was the funniest. the mole guy, mini me running into/being thrown into walls.. it was great!
