Shitty movies don't usually do that to me. Usually I can just ignore them, let them make their millions, say "good for them" for duping the hordes of preteens to go see their piece of shit flick, and that's that.

But for some reason, this movie just sparks ire in my heart every time I see a commercial for it.

Oh shit, instead of Superman blocking the bullet, how about it makes him double over in pain?! That's the OPPOSITE of what REALLY happened! Hahahahahaha (and all the writers jerk each other off to congratulate each other for a job well done)

When was "Click" ever an epic movie?

They do, I know, but it begs the question - Who the fuck pays to see this shit? After The Naked Gun and the original Hot Shots, I was done with these types of movies. And I was 12.

And even then, that peaked in the early-to-mid 90's.

See, but those movies were spoofs of whole genres. Scary Movie, and Hot Shots! as well, had more of the "lifting direct scenes" vibe than the others, but Blazing Saddles spoofed the popular Western stereotypes, Airplane! did it to the disaster movies so popular in the 70s, Naked Gun (and originally Police Squad!) spoofed the hard-boiled street detective genre, and Top Secret! made fun of the epic World War II films that crop up every decade or so. All of them were hilarious and had gags born out of spoofing the accepted stereotypes of the genre. There was the occasional spoof of a direct scene in a movie (for example - the Great Escape motorcycle chase spoof in Top Secret!), but the vast majority of the jokes within those movies were the ironic puns, the non-sequiters, sight gags bordering that bordered on the surreal, or the tried-and-true slapstick of a good old swift kick in the nuts. I would never and I am not in any way labeling these movies as "intelligent" or "groundbreaking". Hell, I wouldn't even call them "praise-worthy". As a die-hard comedy fan, and as a person with the deepest admiration for all ofo those films (and many others like them), I am comfortable with saying that while those movies are sophomoric and simple, they still attempted to be somewhat original. However, the films Date Movie and Epic Movie don't even make an attempt to create any new characters. They simply take scenes and dialogue from other films and then use them again! Perhaps a scene or two may end differently than the original scenee they have stolen, but who really wants to see a film that is one endless re-run of scenes from other BETTER films, only without any of the originality, personality, charm, talent, or creativity that went into the films that are being stolen from.

And it IS stealing.

I cannot fathom a mind that finds it amusing to either produce or watch a film that simply takes an actor, slaps a Borat wardrobe onto him, and then uses one of his catchphrases as a way to get a laugh. In Date Movie it was a Napolean Dynamite look a like who said all the same catchphrases, acted the same disaffected and confused way, and ran off awkwardly. Oh but he fell down and his shirt said something different about Pedro huh? Oh those creative comedic geniuses, what will they come up with next?

What pisses me off more is the stupid ass kids that will pay money to see some shit like this. And believe me, there will be plenty of them seeing this bullshit.

Not sayin those are the right numbers, just simply saying that while people WILL see this movie, they definitely won't make the amount they put into it.

The writers of this (who had a SMALL role in Scary Movie 1 and had nothing to do with any of the following) have written nothing but the worst Leslie Nielsen flick Spy Hard. It makes me mad that they still get work but, in the end, Date Movie doubled its budget.

It should be interesting to see how this does and if Date Movie's suckage will keep people away.

The only reason they were involved in Scary Movie is because they had a competing script which the studio bought. The Wayans took a few things from their script but mainly threw it out. The guys still got credit though. They had nothing to do with any of the other films.

Their credits read: Spy Hard (awful), Date Movie, and now this. They are responsible for two of the worst comedies I've ever seen. A 5 year old would write funnier shit than these guys.

It's one thing if you're taking something funny about a character's personality and exaggerating it, or using that character in a way one wouldn't think of.

But instead it's just some shitty slapstick humor using already established characters.

sad but true.

Lets take something that was already funny (Borat in that swimsuit) and do the same exact thing in our movie. It'll be funny because it references something that all the kids know about, so they'll all feel like they "get" the joke, even though there's no joke at all, it's just a complete rip-off of the already established quality comedy.

These people should be forced to eat a plate full of shit every time they come up with an idea this stupid.

give them a show on hallmark channel so they can leave us alone.

... been in the game for decades. Cats used to do lines backstage and shit all out in the open and shit. A lot of folks in the industry do smoke weed but that shit is still not really out in the open. Not on set anyway. During working hours. when i was working in tv everyone was a pothead but that was all done before, after and during lunch. Never on set when shit was poppin. But after work? SHit. I smoked with my line producer, the director and most of the writers. lol


But yeah. Lots of potheads. I don't think it is at the level that coke was done in it's day.

Those movies are the only reason that a spoof of fantasy films is even marketable nowadays. Maybe there are legal reasons. Or maybe... shudder... the LOTR trilogy is getting its very own spoof movie.

And I doubt these guys could come up with anything more.

Malibu's Most Wanted - over the top accent, etc.
Harold & Kumar - no complaints, but still a lot of ethnic jokes and stuff
Superman Returns - finally a non-Indian role, though he had like 3 lines
Van Wilder - speaks for itself.

24 - so he plays an arab here, but still, same sort of typecast role because dumbass americans mistake indians for arabs frequently

He is always casted in roles based on his ethnicity instead of his talent. He's funny and a good actor and should be more than a "Hey, we need an indian guy... lets get Kal Penn."

Anyone his age with this much work under his belt can't complain about a damn thing.

Epic Movie is just another film that's 'made out of other movies'. No original plot, just a long drag of segments that you have to endure IF you watch the movie.
