I'm sure they'll address the "Keith as Sheriff" thing next week. I'd bet that they called him in as a short-term solution until the next election or something. The Neptune higher-ups have called him in to assist the Sheriff's Department in the past--they know that he's the most suitable for the job.

I hope that it isn't a long-term thing, though...noir is all about the P.I., son! The Keith/V chemistry comes from the fact that they work together at Mars Investigations--and the fact that they are a small time operation who are constantly effed with by the more powerful authorities. If Keith is sheriff we won't see V accused of illegal ish anymore, which was always kind of a key element of the show; she was/is kind of an antihero.

Good episode, btw--I was genuinely shocked. Lamb was a great character.
