Posted by I M S, Mon Jan-15-07 05:29 AM
245590, i was watching it with my british friend...
Posted by RdblOTS, Mon Jan-15-07 12:42 PM
and the part where they're talking about funny, black, british comedians...and that awkward pause when Gervais is trying to come up with one, my friend was sitting there yelling "Lenny Henry, LENNY HENRY"...<pans to picture of Lenny Henry>...and Gervais still doesn't have an answer. FUNNY SHIT. Good episode.
245604, see, I figured that part would be funny if I knew who the guy
Posted by Rjcc, Mon Jan-15-07 01:19 PM
in the picture was, it was still funny, but I was missing that bit of context

was hilarious.

orlando bloom's hatred of johnny depp was also great.
245632, I loved it
Posted by will_5198, Mon Jan-15-07 02:21 PM
I was crying at some of the parts with the dude Keith, even within the slim context given
245634, what about the part w/ the other actress
Posted by Rjcc, Mon Jan-15-07 02:32 PM
that shit was absolutely killing me

245636, you mean her and Maggie?
Posted by will_5198, Mon Jan-15-07 02:47 PM
that was funny too, it replaced the interaction between Andy and that other dude that was always teasing him on set

one of the best parts of Season 1 was when Andy got the BBC pilot and rubbed it in his face.
245639, oh yeah, Sean/Barry from EastEnders
Posted by will_5198, Mon Jan-15-07 02:51 PM
is a hilarious reccuring cameo

that part where he was dressed up and ready to replace Andy was killing me.

Mus-taaaang Sally!
245677, Damn, that episode was great.
Posted by bignick, Mon Jan-15-07 05:28 PM
There is nobody else in comedy that con do what he does.

**This has been another positive bignick post.***
245683, Gervais is one of the funniest people in television history
Posted by will_5198, Mon Jan-15-07 05:54 PM
245689, Seriously. David Brent is one of the best characters ever.
Posted by bignick, Mon Jan-15-07 06:25 PM
And Extras is a hell of a follow up.
245701, The first time you see "When the Whistle Blows"....
Posted by handle, Mon Jan-15-07 07:00 PM
It will BLOW YOU AWAY!!

I only pray that HBO is running these in order.

As a cool kid, who downloaded these, I can honestly say the first full episode of When The Whistle Blows is the funniest thing I saw on TV in 2006.
245931, Agreed. And I think HBO has no choice but to air them in order...

I also went back on Demand and re-watched a couple of my favorite eps from season 1 to refresh my memory.
I'm glad I did
Can't wait to see this seasons development.
Cuss- Turd
245929, HILARIOUS
Posted by Wordup, Tue Jan-16-07 02:54 PM
Andy ethered that English black comedian

Maggy and Andy's agent are so foolish
245935, look out for stephen merchant - he steals this season!
Posted by RetroName, Tue Jan-16-07 03:23 PM
btw anyone caught him in 24 6th season premiere? :)
246013, RE: look out for stephen merchant - he steals this season!
Posted by ptothej, Tue Jan-16-07 08:53 PM
no, where was he in it?
246094, in the beginning of the 1st episode
Posted by RetroName, Wed Jan-17-07 09:44 AM
he was in ctu during conversation between chloe and that new chick. he was there for a second, though.
246351, agreed!
Posted by Kungset, Thu Jan-18-07 12:43 AM
"well it's not BAD... bad suggests something evil. it's poor. rubbish."
LOL!!
246074, yeah i like season 1 more
Posted by UncleClimax, Wed Jan-17-07 05:25 AM
but this season has its moments...
i just cant imagine how much funnier the show would be if i got more of the british references...like, for instance, if i knew who that keith guy was....or barry off east enders (Wtf is east enders? lol)
but i got the chef (Black comedian) shit..that was hilarious...
246093, Ep 2, Bowie - Wow. Gervais/Merchant = quality
Posted by KingMonte, Wed Jan-17-07 09:44 AM
I wasn't in love with S1, compared to The Office, but the first 2 of S2 are out of control.
These guys are no fluke.
247000, First 2 episodes have been great.
Posted by Ryan M, Sat Jan-20-07 03:09 AM
Orlando Bloom was fantastic in the first one. The 2nd episode was also quite good but not on the level of the premiere. Nonetheless, this is one of the funniest shows on TV. Ricky Gervais constantly kills it.
247856, the return of Andy's fat nemesis
Posted by will_5198, Tue Jan-23-07 02:21 AM
him pointing out Andy to other women during the Bowie song was killing me.

the homeless bit was good too; I remember on the DVD extras of The Office, Gervais and Merchant brought up a homeless guy who had seen the show...that's when they knew they had a hit, when homeless guys knew who David Brent was

I'm already sad there are just 4 more.
249349, third joint w/ harry potter is hilarious
Posted by Rjcc, Sat Jan-27-07 10:37 AM
merchant as the agent just had me on the floor crying, these guys are geniuses

Merchant vs. Warwick Davis was goddamn golden.
249726, yeah it was good
Posted by will_5198, Mon Jan-29-07 02:29 AM
249728, i think that was the best episode of the series so far
Posted by HighVoltage, Mon Jan-29-07 02:35 AM
249737, Next week's is better, and the next one is better still.
Posted by stravinskian, Mon Jan-29-07 04:22 AM

Someone'll have to make a post before next week's show, though, to prepare everyone for all the British culture references.
249741, good to hear. im so tempted to just download em, but ill pace myself
Posted by HighVoltage, Mon Jan-29-07 04:50 AM

Posted by will_5198, Mon Jan-29-07 10:33 AM
where Andy is going on about how the press lied about Merchant begging for Shaun's part back on EastEnders, getting on his knees and bursting into tears

Merchant's reaction was fucking priceless
249556, apropos of nothing, i'll post some Seona Dancing clips

Posted by Jay Cam, Sat Feb-03-07 12:32 PM
didn't see that coming

good episode, but being American I didn't know who that little dude was, so it wasn't as funny to me as it probably was to those in the UK
251779, That was Ronnie Corbett
Posted by stravinskian, Sat Feb-03-07 07:58 PM

1970s British comedian:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_corbett .

They've had the running joke that Andy lost his virginity to a woman who looks like Ronnie Corbett. That's him.

By the way, the woman who was being arrested at the very end, that was Moira Stuart:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moira_Stewart ,

BBC news anchor.
254426, slept on show
Posted by eclipsedInI, Tue Feb-13-07 03:08 PM
the awards episode had me dying
254464, Gervais has finally won me over
Posted by OldPro, Tue Feb-13-07 05:20 PM

254470, dude is a fucking genius
Posted by Rjcc, Tue Feb-13-07 05:34 PM

Posted by mmmBop, Tue Feb-13-07 06:16 PM
Has some of the most hilarious scenes in recent memory, that shit always has me dying.
254514, that dude trips me out...
Posted by Calico, Tue Feb-13-07 08:30 PM
it's like he hates duke, but shows up EVERYWHERE the guy is...

254517, His facial experessions though
Posted by mmmBop, Tue Feb-13-07 08:40 PM
And the witty comebacks, so hilarious. Everytime they meet I think it might be just a friendly hello, especially when Gervais wants it to be friendly. But the dude just can't resist rubbing it in.
262479, yeah his facial expressions are priceless
Posted by will_5198, Fri Mar-09-07 07:54 PM
mocking him at the club with Bowie killed me
262480, great season; great cameo at the end
Posted by will_5198, Fri Mar-09-07 07:55 PM
