265656, Yeah I'm kinda with you Posted by chief1284, Wed Mar-21-07 12:57 AM
I remember coming in here once saying Death to Smoochy is one of the most underrated films about and hilarious. BUT got totally clowned. I went back and saw it again not high as fuck and realised maybe I'd 'made a huge mistake' (C)Arrested Development. Actually though I think its somewhere in between. Its supposed to be ridiculous and it is. I mean its no classic but its good fun.

Denzel Washington- The Mighty Quinn
Larry Fishburne- Quicksilver
Val Kilmer- Batman Forever
Morgan Freeman- Driving Miss Daisy
Steven Spielberg- The Goonies/AI
Harrison Ford- Air Force One, and that lame shit with Anne Heche (tie)
Sean Connery- now that I think about it, he's made a LOT of shitty movies. But I'll go with The Rock
Stanley Kubrick- AI. I know he was dead, but they put his name on it...

236664, I didn't HATE Virtuosity Posted by Arch Stanton, Fri Dec-08-06 01:59 PM
but it's the worst Denzel movie I can think of. Somebody said Death to Smoochy(which I actually kinda like), but it's gotta be Kissing a Fool for Ed Norton. Hudson Hawk has to be the worst Bruce Willis movie. Excess Baggage for Benicio del Toro. Batman Forever and Batman and Robin for everyone involved. The Sixth Day for Arnold. Nothing But Trouble for John Candy. Gangs of NY for Scorcese. Intolerable Cruelty for the Coens. Woody Allen has some bad ones, Curse of the whatever being the worst I've seen. Ridley Scott's recent one sounds like his worst.
|
236675, Neither did I Posted by jigga, Fri Dec-08-06 02:33 PM
>Hudson Hawk has to be the worst Bruce Willis movie.
Not even close.
The Whole Ten Yards The Jackal Mercury Rising Last Man Standing Striking Distance Look Who's Talking Too Mortal Thoughts The 5th Element
The list goes on & on
>Intolerable Cruelty for the Coens.
That was better than The Man that Wasnt There
>Ridley Scott's recent one sounds like his worst.
Not Kingdom of Heaven right?
|
238181, the 5th element was good fun! Posted by shockzilla, Wed Dec-13-06 11:33 PM

yes it was.
|
265655, I concur Posted by chief1284, Wed Mar-21-07 12:53 AM
I've always thought that was one of the most over criticised films around. I love that film. I mean its totally mindless. But really good fun, and 10 times better and more stylish than 99% of action flicks. Plus it got Gary Oldman.

>>Hudson Hawk has to be the worst Bruce Willis movie. > >Not even close. > >The Whole Ten Yards >The Jackal >Mercury Rising >Last Man Standing >Striking Distance Those are all mediocre-bad films but none of them are Hudson Hawk bad.
>Look Who's Talking Too
Voicework hardly counts
>Mortal Thoughts
Never heard of this one.
>The 5th Element
I liked it.
>The list goes on & on > >>Intolerable Cruelty for the Coens. > >That was better than The Man that Wasnt There
I might have to agree with you on this but I feel like I should see that one again.
>>Ridley Scott's recent one sounds like his worst. > >Not Kingdom of Heaven right?
KOH is not a bad movie and most of the problems with that movie are Orlando Bloom's fault. Would you rather watch a war epic with a crappy lead or a lame ass dramedy about a banker who inherits a vineyard and still bitches about it?

Hudson Hawk is 1 of those purposely bad movies that I found enjoyable
>>Look Who's Talking Too > >Voicework hardly counts
Fair enuff
>>Mortal Thoughts > >Never heard of this one.
Bruce wishes he hadnt either
>>The 5th Element > >I liked it.
I wanted 2 but I fell asleep

I normally wouldn't cut dude any slack but I thought this was a perfect role for him.
Would you rather watch a war >epic with a crappy lead or a lame ass dramedy about a banker >who inherits a vineyard and still bitches about it?
Well if Marion Cotillard is listening 2 the bitching I'm all ears

and I think "intolerable Cruelty" is hilarious. If i "have" to choose a bad Coen brothers flick (which is like having bad sex, i.e. you STILL had a good time), it'd be:
Barton Fink

> but it's the worst Denzel movie I can think of.
being that I was born in Jamaica, The Mighty Quinn is a Denzel movie I despise far worse than Virtuosity. I've never seen it, but the first movie Denzel was in I believe, Carbon Copy, looked like it was horid as well.

265609, re: Excess Baggage Posted by genius.switch, Tue Mar-20-07 10:27 PM
I just watched Excess Baggage today, and honestly this movie wasn't that bad. Hell, it wasn't even bad. Sure, it seemed like about three or four scenes were missing and others maybe rushed, but production quality-wise it was a nice-looking film, a mid-90's nice-sounding film, with cause for a couple out-loud intentional chuckles, and reputable chemistry between the leads (and between Walken and BDT even). Del Toro of course kept the picture alive and interesting when it could have gone real bad, but I was surprised at how inoffensive and watchable it actually proved to be, especially with all the bad write-ups it's gotten over the years. (I think people were just tired of Alicia Silverstone already by '97 and wanted to trash her pet project to pieces.)
Anyway, it was definitely a better film than Swimming with Sharks, The Fan, or even 21 Grams (21 Grams might have had higher aspirations than EB, but it also had much greater failings).
>Excess Baggage for Benicio del Toro.
