Seriously, though, I don't know, maybe I'm naive, but I think Steve has made enough money where, if he so desired, he could announce that he's no longer putting his name on "THOSE kinds of movies"... and he could annnounce it using a snotty British accent... that would be a fun press conference...

Eh, I'm not going to begrudge him his sentimental streak... as you say, that's one of his strengths, imo...

I think Munich is the closest he's gotten to "balance" in his so-called "serious" movies... but I attribute that more to Tony Kushner and Eric Roth's writing than Spielberg. And again, I don't find serious fault with the way the guy infuses certain emotional things into his movies...
