183440, That was more about people who just stopped acting
Posted by Adwhizz, Sun May-21-06 11:03 PM
This one is about folks falling off
183447, So, 'falling off' is not the same as 'never acting again?'
Posted by ZooTown74, Sun May-21-06 11:09 PM
What's really the difference? (I know what the literal difference is, but) Aren't they one in the same? Actors who had one good role, then, whether they just stopped acting or didn't have another good role, disappeared?

I mean, I know you authored the initial joint, but still.

183460, I nominate Kevin Costner cause he just sucks in general. n/m

183595, Hate not on Costner
Posted by Wordman, Mon May-22-06 12:20 PM
Yeah, dude has done some not-so great work, okay maybe he's done a good amount of not-so good work. But dude has done some good quality movies.
Bull Durham
Field Of Dreams
The Big Chill (okay, he's in five minutes, but still...)
No Way Out

there's a few good Costner flicks out there.

185177, And those both came before Pitch Black

And that movie that came out earlier this year with him as a gangster representing himself in court got excellent reviews in terms of Diesel's acting. I think it was called "Find Me Guilty". Diesel is a bad choice.
183665, Stallone in Rocky.
Posted by dao_rida, Mon May-22-06 02:40 PM
I mean, I have enjoyed a lot of his movies. But Rocky was great and I think his performance was great...of course when he began to play the caricature of Rocky in every movie subsequent, it got a little old.
183807, jennifer lopez in out of sight.

184878, 'selena' was before 'out of sight'...
Posted by willydynamite, Thu May-25-06 01:56 PM
so you're missing the point of this post.
183989, Samuel "L" Jackson. Prove me wrong.
Posted by disco dj, Tue May-23-06 08:17 AM
He was AWESOME in "Pulp Fiction". He's sucked ass since.

People always come with that "SLJ is a great actor" thing, but you can't name ONE good flick since "PF", can you? No. You can't.

Yelling at people does NOT make him a good actor.
184067, Sam Jack good performances since Pulp Fiction...
Posted by dao_rida, Tue May-23-06 01:29 PM
A Time to Kill - 1996
Eve's Bayou - 1997
Jackie Brown - 1997
The Red Violin (Le Violon Rouge) - 1998 (A personal favorite of mine)
Unbreakable - 2000 (Underrated IMO)
The Incredibles - 2004
Coach Carter - 2005 (You could argue, though, that this role constitutes a lot of yelling)
Black Snake Moan - 2006 (I haven't seen it, but the word is that it is good).
184083, add "Snakes on a Plane" to that list

I thought at this point, SOAP was just presumed to be the greatest performance ever for all involved, from Samuel L. to the key grip or the best boy.

The negotiator and long kiss goodnight, I like Sam because he won't allow hllywd change him like most of these other black men in film do. Look at Larry Fishbourne, I mean Lawrence. He haven't been Larry since boyz in the hood, bangin' oooh, child. Don't get me wrong he has had some good roles but the brother is just black on film. He appears to have lost his way to the east side.....
184551, a good actor that always gets type casted...
Posted by BigWorm, Wed May-24-06 07:52 PM
Is not the same thing as a bad actor.

The only reason I every tolerated her as an actress was because of that movie. Oh yeah and she got a fat booty.

Reality check: according to the 2000 census, there were more than 31,000 black physicians and surgeons, 33,000 black lawyers. There are about 1,400 black athletes playing professional basketball, football and baseball combined.

Anyone seriously checking for him since Memento?

184499, LA Confidential was before that...so he was good in at least 2 films...
Posted by dao_rida, Wed May-24-06 05:07 PM
But subsequent to Memento, I can't remember him in anything.

Is that if you're cool in one movie, there's a good chance you put in at least one other solid performance. Interesting...
