I didn't say two words about critical acclaim or marketing; all of that's pretty much irrelevant. The simple fact is, these shows were presented to the public (yes, both black and white folks, SoulHonky); the fact is, both were failures. With the public. Just because Siskel and Ebert, and/or Tom Shales throw critical roses at programs doesn't mean the public's willingly going to tune in.
