From those flashbacks in episode 2 we know the Mandalorian became an orphan when he lost his family in the clone wars. As you mentioned his concern for the foundlingswaa shown in the conversation with the armorer. I’m sure he’ll have a soft spot for the child on this mission.

The child brings up so many questions...if he’s really 50 years old that means he was born before the clone wars when the Jedi were still all over the galaxy. How would a force sensitive child of that species go unnoticed by both the Jedi council during that time AND the empire during the Jedi purge? Even after the purge during the OT, Yoda never sensed his presence?

Someone on Reddit pointed out that the logo on the sleeve of the doctor in the first episode is the same logo seen on the cloner’s planet Kamino - is he trying to clone the child or is he already a clone himself?

As I mentioned above they gotta come up for some explanation how he isn’t around during the sequel trilogy. Dave Filoni has had no problems doing that in the past when you look at Ezra and Ahsoka, although that’s still a very open ended story.
