I really didn't find many things funny, and the cameos did nothing to add flavor to the film

i never felt the "great" tension between Phoenix and Brolin's characters

if it was supposed to be warped Noir, the "case" was so abstracted, I was never invested in the stakes of the lives in the film's world

also, there is nothing that can hold a candle to the jail cell scene from The Master in Inherent Vice, or the chemistry Amy and PCH had, or the beautiful shots within the Master

y'all keep saying this was beautifully shot, but where? which scenes. For a PTA film, and dude WAS my contemporary GOAT, everything felt so pushed up against the frame and not hallucinogenic ENOUGH for the dearth of the 70s.
