The Dr. is the field Dr. mentioned in Korea, he got bitten out in the field but made it back to the base and was treating patients there prior to going zombie.

Yeah, I guess, I forgot about that scene.

But the timing threw me off, it wasn't an instant chop off the hand, it goes back to my time to convert argument. If ol boy in Philly was 11-12 seconds that's a fast moving virus not slow enough for you to react by removing a body part.
