...I find the individual jokes funny a lot of the time, and like certain of the characters, but don't think the serious stuff is pulled off as well. Reminds me of --I think it's Futurama-- where there's this robot modeled after hawkeye on M*A*S*H*, and he keep flipping his control switch between 'maudlin' and 'irreverent'

There are other little things that annoy me about the show's formulas, keeping it at good, not great. e.g. too many characters delivering the same kind of dialogue, or the high number of 'sibling' episodes, where some guest star shows up as a wacky trouble-making brother or sister of one of the established characters, only to end up having a serious problem at the end (maudlin/irreverent).
