I will be back to articulate why. And you should miss Sha Mecca for reasons beyond simply tearing somebody shit down.
3042928, First album is a classic

and I loved the 80 Blocks from Tiffany’s mixtape. I know they put out some other good stuff but I’m not sure it’s enough to be one of the greatest rap groups ever.

3042941, On The Way Uptown
Posted by jaymack, Fri May-26-23 04:31 PM
is a GREAT compilation of pre-Uptown tracks. All Ski on production. SP1200 magic.
Word is Jay-Z switched his whole style up for Reasonable Doubt when he heard these dudes.

More or less.

"Camp Lo has dropped a new tape filled with rare and unreleased demos called On The Way Uptown, in reference to their underrated 1997 classic Uptown Saturday Night. On the Way Uptown features seventeen tracks. "

3042942, When you say top groups of all time are you talking top 10?
Posted by Nick Has a Problem...Seriously, Fri May-26-23 04:46 PM
If so, I would like to see your top 10.
3042948, just listened to 80 blocks

That person cannot be in the group.
3042999, Ski Beatz doesn't get his due as a great producer
Posted by Lach, Fri Jun-02-23 11:20 AM
One of the best there's been and a real cool dude.
3043008, Coherency is their weak point
Posted by spirit, Sun Jun-04-23 09:54 AM
Half the time I have no idea what they’re talking about

3043048, They made it sound fly, but yeah

3043056, that's what I'm sayin. Are they really accessible w/o Ski?
Posted by Lach, Mon Jun-12-23 01:23 PM
I'm a huge fan of Camp Lo, but it's that Ski production which really lights them up to me.
3043058, RE: that's what I'm sayin. Are they really accessible w/o Ski?

I don't know if accessible is the term, more like they came up in a time when having a different rhyme style, being creative with the wordplay, slanguage, was valued. They were unique, in the same sense of Das Efx when they dropped. SKI and Camp Lo just fit each other perfectly, complemented what Lo was trying to do creatively...

I do think that they do compliment each other, but I will say that not knowing what the f*&k they were saying made the album less impactful.

Their style was phenomenal.
Their flow was crazy, especially as a duo.
Beats were fire.
Lyrics were mid at best (due to the lack of "connectablity" for the listener.

3043104, I always thought they were playing the brothers from Airplane
Posted by Lach, Fri Jun-16-23 09:43 AM
who were talking all slang the whole time. But yeah with Ski they are the perfect storm. I probably listen to "Bubblin" every day in the gym. Just hypes me up.
