3041936, I've been following these

always cool to hear background from the artists themselves. I think he kind of hints at too many things without just saying it and repeats himself way too much. I think in the newest episodes he's taking less time repeating what each device does before he hits play.

Either way, I appreciate that he's doing these and I hope he keeps going.
3041939, Got hip to these last year.

What I appreciate the most is how many other people Premier incorporates into the anecdotes he tells about the songs. There was a breakdown for Code Of The Streets where Premier actually presented an old VHS tape that had an old pre-Gangstar version of the song; I think the VHS was from the early 80's.

Pretty cool to see how Premier still has a love the craft and is on some level a humble individual.

had no idea this existed. thanks for the heads up.

very cool even though it's guilty of the pointeless-camera-angle-changes thing that really drives me nuts. I'll just listen instead of watchin' em. looking forward to digging in, tho.

I see Devin's 'Doobie Ashtray' is on the list :)
3042001, Was hip to that series….

….ever since Premier started dropping episodes (it helped that I had already followed his channel way before the series began). I love it. The next one is going to be about the making of “D’Evils” for Jay-Z.

Since 1976

3042319, It’s not what I want it to be.

I prefer Jake One’s Snare Jordan series where he’s loading up the sessions and showing how things were made. Preem’s endless shoutouts to every rando don’t really tell how the song was made. At the very least, I’d like to see him load the floppy and play the sequence(s).
3042322, lol yeah

He has to shout out everyone and sometimes even repeats it. Shout to blah blah who is blah blah and blah blah. He starts saying something you want to hear then he gets sidetracked with shout outs and "oh while we're talking about __".

Still I appreciate it for what it is. It's cool to hear from the actual people that made the music. I know licensing has to be an issue but I definitely wish he spent more time playing the actual music.

I think he's too secretive about his sauce to actually show us how he made it.
3042326, Didn’t realize Jake One was doing that, will have to check for it

Khrysis started to do it, but only did a couple episodes and then stopped. I loved the ones he did and was hoping it would keep going.

I remember wayyy back in the early days of YouTube Pete Rock did one where he sampled “Love Is a Battlefield”. Would love to see Pete do a whole series breaking down his classics.
