Just thinking about songs for this post, I've censored myself a lot because a lot of songs I find uplifting would probably be seen as sad by some, because they go into the loss and pain that people had to go through to get that hard won perspective that I find truly uplifting. When you're going through some shit, you need to hear something authentic and earned, and that's hard for any artist to pull off in an uplifting way, rappers included. And even if it could be construed as corny, to paraphrase Mos Def, there are worse things than being corny.
