Dilla - you could pick a ton of his work from that era. He could ride his own beats like no one else, to the point that he often sounds like PART of the beat. On top of that on a lot of the early SV stuff it was clear that he came up with the concept and coached others on their verses, so it makes sense that he’d have the best even though he wasn’t the best MC.
