might be the rock album of the year. I don't usually check for the hardcore genre, since I need my melodies, but these guys are covering all bases. there are '90s-style riffs, a little shoegaze, a little go-go influence, two songs with Blood Orange that flow seamlessly, plus the typical hardcore thrashing.
this one took my completely by surprise and hasn't let go.

for some reason, and it's somehow become my most played album this year. There are just enough of those melodies and non-hardcore elements that make it refreshing and interesting.

upon first listen a lot of the songs seem like they are going in one direction, then they add another layer, and another
all in 2 minutes, which leaves you wanting more
TLC is a great example. sounds typical, but then that breakdown, into a Sly and Family Stone interpolation, into an 808 drum outro? so fucking good

I noticed the band's name elsewhere on the interwebs and gave 'em a quick listen purely cuz I remembered seeing this post. totally not something I would've checked for otherwise, but I like it, based on the handful of tracks I sampled.
