3034299, Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert (9/3/2021)

I'm not sure what artists/albums warrant exclusive threads these days versus discussion in the weekly new music posts, but based on the singles dropped so far and the new NPR Tiny Desk, this album feels like it's about to be one of those that deserves its own post.

Singles so far:
Introvert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxfGQ2AJHGk

Always.

I'm really looking forward to this album.
Pre-ordered the vinyl based on the strength of Woman which was fantastic.

Really interested to hear what Inflo and the crew do with Simz on this.

3034385, If she dropped Lane Switch today I think it would have found a bigger audience

Seems like now we are more into retro 90s vibes and can deal with British accent on rappers better.

3034400, Really loved this on first listen, can't wait to sit with it more

"Two Worlds Apart" stood out the most on first listen, mostly for being the style of beat I really love. I love Simz flow on it as well.
3034421, I adore this album. Her new video is fire as well (Point and Kill)

I can't get enough of SIMBI. I hope it gets a ton of attention.
3034424, Loved this on first listen, definitely going to stay on rotation.

This is the shit I’m talking about!
3034430, just getting to a full listen

And man, halfway through and this is ridiculous.

The musical development of some of these songs is on another level. The layers added over time to I Love You, I Hate You for instance, just keeps going and going.

That's SAULT 9, Mother, and Sometimes... winning year for these folks all around, like a soulquarians-level Voodoo/Mama's Gun/LWFC run...

Going to be playing this a lot this week.

Little Q, Pt. 2 is my early favorite.
3034445, Woman is cool. I like it, but I think I like the Sault stuff way way more

Wow. This Tiny Desk is excellent. I’m gonna run up on this album for sure. Good looking out. I saw some excitement over the album and had it on the stack to listen already. But now? Yeah..it’s closer to the top of the stack!
3034920, this album is great

loved it on first listen (yeah im this behind). a couple of tracks maybe didnt grab me as much but i feel like those will grow on me with repeat listens. they definitely didnt detract from the album.

i had only heard great things about it but ive been on a mission that had me listening to other albums. this was a great album to jump back into new music with.
3035013, Obongjayar (Point and Kill) did an ep with Afrobeat producer SARZ

3035016, ooh. that track is nice, will check the rest

i looked into some of his music after hearing point and kill, and wasn't feeling the vibes as much. this is more in line with what i was expecting.
3035025, Had the same reaction to his previous work. This project is a huge step up
Posted by Castro, Tue Oct-05-21 09:39 AM
SARZ is one of my faves so I knew it would be good...but is really really good. He seems to have been trying to do 80s type sounds....but with Sarz they nailed it yet it still sounds up to date.
3035023, good catch - thanks for sharing nm
