3032630, Is Jay-Z x Nas incoming?
Posted by cheesecake, Fri May-28-21 02:50 AM
This new DMX is the second time they’ve both featured on a song this month. I would not be surprised if they were planning a watch the throne album at this point in their careers...
3032631, That song is very old, Nas just updated his verse a bit to modernize it
Posted by Nabs, Fri May-28-21 03:03 AM
but... it only makes sense to strike now before it's too late. I suspect we'll get a project this year, along with a Verzuz with a full crowd.

it's worth dreaming...
3032632, Eh..
Posted by cheesecake, Fri May-28-21 03:44 AM
I don't see them doing the Verzus thing, I don't think they'd want to feed into that history more and it'd be kinda corny. Plus, I think the Verzus thing has already peaked as a thing...

Also, I think time is on their side. They could drop an album together at basically anytime and it would be a huge deal

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize it was an old song
3032633, Couldn't disagree more. I don't even really understand your first point haha.

Feed into "that history" ? Aren't they doing that by doing songs together ? This is a super weird take.

Hell no. It's alive and well.
3032643, Ok..
Posted by cheesecake, Fri May-28-21 01:12 PM
Maybe I’m wrong. Wouldn’t be mad at all if they did a verzuz together. That was just my initial feeling
3032634, I disagree as well.
Posted by LeroyBumpkin, Fri May-28-21 11:13 AM
A Verzuz surrounding an album release would be huge.
Plus, I don't see them needing to tour anymore with both of them
having paid interests outside of music.

Again on Verzuz, the Method Man/Redman, Ghostface/Raekwon were amazing.
3032636, Yeah, that's what I was thinking
Posted by Nabs, Fri May-28-21 11:39 AM
Meth and Red was a dream performance that I won't forget. Nas and Jay doing a celebratory Verzuz would be wonderful.

3032635, Versus reminds me of a time that I’d like to completely forget
Posted by DJR, Fri May-28-21 11:30 AM
I can’t watch it anymore.
3032637, I hope not
Posted by Anonymous, Fri May-28-21 11:46 AM
3032641, Agreed. Lets get that Nas/AZ album instead

3032642, Yessir!

3032644, Lol

Never gonna happen. Maybe the firm, but doubt it
3032717, I posted this in another track, but here's a bunch of Nas / AZ

3032740, Nas doesn’t even have a verse on the song with Canibus
Posted by spirit, Wed Jun-02-21 09:51 PM
Nas danced around it in an interview but it sounded like he was scared to be on a track with Bis back then.

Perplexed how Canibus and Pun never did a song together, as a side note.

Peace,

Spirit (Alan)

3032742, it's a part 2 off a Clue Tape that includes Nas
Posted by spitfire, Thu Jun-03-21 03:37 AM
but yeah, crazy how Pun & Canibus came up as lyrical monsters in the same time frame and never collaborated...

there is this legendary session tho:

The year was 1998

3032747, oh shit... i completely forgot about this entire album!

This joint was pretty crazy at the time

>This joint was pretty crazy at the time

I am pretty committed to putting together a documentary or dramatic series about 1998. It was a seminal year for hip hop.
3032766, 1998 was the last great year
Posted by Anonymous, Thu Jun-03-21 11:02 PM
97 was a transition period and 98 was like the last hurrah.

99 got slim as far as quality.

00 was pretty dope and there have been other really good years but 98 was the end of the golden era.
3032692, Am i the only one who finds Jay boring as fuck?
Posted by My_SP1200_Broken_Again, Sun May-30-21 11:37 PM
..i mean, Nas has been too but he wasn't always like that ...Besides some of blueprint, i really don't fuck with hov like a lot of people do

3032693, No
Posted by Anonymous, Mon May-31-21 06:38 AM
Considering his GOAT status, probably the most overrated of all-time

3032694, Post-Black Album I agree
Posted by DJR, Mon May-31-21 08:07 AM
I know American Gangster and 4:44 are well regarded, but I was bored.

3032718, I liked American Gangster a lot
Posted by mrhood75, Tue Jun-01-21 03:33 PM
I didn't like 4:44 as much as many do (outside a few songs). I will say he was legit dope on "A Written Testimony."
3033288, ^
Posted by kinetic94761180, Fri Jul-02-21 01:13 PM
all this.
3033287, Nas can still spit spit.
Posted by Soldado, Fri Jul-02-21 12:52 PM
Hov just goes for the cheap applause lines at this point.
3032726, Agree
Posted by cidolfas, Wed Jun-02-21 09:24 AM
3032756, yeah im over new Jay-Z. willing to listen to new Nas tho
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Jun-03-21 04:03 PM
3032758, Even tho Jay's last album was good and Nas' last two were ass ?
Posted by Brew, Thu Jun-03-21 07:17 PM
lol I assume you disagree of course.

I will personally always check for both artists, out of respect. If they dropped a joint album I'd think damn, this is 12+ years too late ... but I still wanna hear it.
3033201, I listened to Nas last album a lot more than 4:44
Posted by DJR, Mon Jun-28-21 08:16 AM
I’ll revisit, but 4:44 bored me. Every post 2003 Jay album bores me. At some point I just stopped caring about anything he says, and I don’t know how to get past that.

That Nas album was pretty good, IMO.
3033298, RE: I listened to Nas last album a lot more than 4:44
