It's dope all around. Has some tracks I heard some years back, but not complaining. Second half of the project is stronger than first half, mainly cause of the beats, as Breeze stays sharp throughout. If your not aware of his intricate, unique flow, check the project out...an MC's MC...
3029878, Am I the only one who thinks Blu was heavily influenced by Breeze?

When he first came out Blu style was a dope mixture of Breeze Brewin & Common.

3029879, hmm...any specific examples?

He had the nimble Breeze flow but he was warm and endearing like Common. Breeze's voice has always sounded cold and distant.

Blu wasn't copying, I just feel like I can guess some of his early influences.
3029884, Damn good call. And thanks for reminding me ...

.. how amazing a song "Reminding Me (Of Sef)" is. I haven't listened to One Day front to back in so long cuz it's my favorite Common album and I wore that shit out over the years. Looks like I'm gonna need to revisit. That song gives me chills to this day.

Listening to "Real N*gga Quotes" now and damn this shit is so Chicago lol. I love this album so much.

Anyway, tangent aside you're onto something here. I'm not as familiar with Breeze but I think I hear the influence you speak of. Obviously I picked up on Blu's Common inspiration right away like I'm sure most of us did.

And yea - "In Remembrance of Me" very clearly took some inspiration from "Reminding Me (Of Sef)". Extremely similar vibes, and even the titles are similar lol. In fact I always thought it was stylized "In Remembrance (Of Me)" so even subconsciously I picked up on the influence haha.

All that aside - I agree with you, it seems pretty clear that Blu is paying homage to both artists and not copying at all.
3029885, I've been a huge fan of Blu and Brewin for years

I've never really connected the two, but I can kind of hear it in Remembrance of Me delivery. Interesting. Never noticed it before.

The Com comparison wasn't shocking since I've compared them before myself but wanted to hear specific Brewin examples...appreciate it.

Brewin and Blu are criminally under appreciated either way.

3029882, I think that's a good analysis

I can kinda hear the Breezly Brewin now that you mention it. I know Blu has gone on record about the esteem he has held for Common.

Could "A Long Red Hot Los Angeles Summer Night" be considered Blu and Oh No's west coast version of "A Prince Among Thieves"?
