What's funny for me personally is that my first foray into hip-hop was via Death Row. Then my second wave of hip-hop obsession was The Roots, OKP, Soulquarian, Rawkus and adjacent movements. So I loved every single artist involved, and even *I* was like "what kinda madness is this ?!" lol.

But as you said, it was unexpected and absolutely perfect.
