Almost 30 years ago, "Mr. Hood" changed my perception of what music could and should be. Then when resurfaced and began the best second act that any entertainer could hope for, he rekindled everything that I loved about hip-hop. He's been one of my favorite rappers since.

As my brother just told me, what's dope is that not only was his music lived by old and washed cats like ourselves, but it also resonated with future generations. And not just guys like Tyler and Earl, but also a whole new crop of Soundcloud rappers out there.

This really, really, REALLY sucks. Of all the deaths in 2020, this one probably hits me the hardest.
