3028873, Who are the greatest teenage rappers of all time?
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Wed Dec-09-20 03:21 PM
It sometimes blow my mind that De La Soul made 3 Feet High And Rising as Teenagers. To be so original and fully formed at such a young age is truly impressive.

Who comes to mind for you?

Mobb Deep?
LL Cool J?
Hold old were the Beasties for License to Ill?

Big Boi was 19 and Andre was 18 when Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik dropped probably making them 18 and when most of it was recorded.

Nas was 20 when Illmatic dropped probably making him 19, maybe even 18 when it was recorded.

I was just going to make a post about him.

Seems odd that he never released a second album.

First albums is dope...not classic but had some bangers!

But after that he seemed to have some great guest spots.

He killed it on The Coming and got a main spot on Busta’s second album.

Killed it on Enigma and Muddy Waters.

Dope on Blackout! in 99.

Odd he never released a second album to me.
3028893, I really dug his debut (only) album
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Wed Dec-09-20 09:57 PM
The single was pretty dope.

He also had a verse on Erick Sermon's Insomnia compilation which was outstanding. And like you said the Busta features were quality as well.

His album showed potential but I can see that his 'rugged' persona didn't stand out among his peers.

He also came about right as jiggy hip-hop got popular and he was both too notable and polished to be seen as underground like the Rawkus folks were and too under-the-radar and rugged to keep up with Bad Boy and Roc-a-fella.

He fell through the cracks.

I too would like to know what happened to him.
3028895, I love that Insomnia album

I stopped in to see if someone had shouted him out. One of the more overlooked Native Tongues members, but still one of the best "kid" rappers imho.

Now, that said - with regards to this post in general - most of our favorite MCs started when they was teens tbh, as the flow of this post has demonstrated. So really, when I saw this topic, I was thinking they meant like "early teens" which is why Chi Ali popped up in my head.
3029140, Lucy Camp fka Luzid...

Did anyone see that Hiero Day documentary with audio footage of A Plus rhyming at 13? By far the best rapper I have heard at that age. I believe they were all still teenagers when they recorded 93 Til as well?

Peace,
