He was on my radar when he came out back in the mid '90s. But hearing My World a few years ago caught my ears and reacquainted myself with him. I went ahead and pulled up Jewelz and didn't stop listening to it in some shape or form for about a year. I'm wack for not taking to him sooner.

Also Mobb Deep. Survival of the Fittest came on one day which lead me on a deep dive into The Infamous and on to some of their later albums. Again, I'd ask for a late pass but they've been passed out for that group. I'm too late.
3028244, Alice Coltrane

Has given me life this week.

Pops was a jazz man

I enjoyed more traditional jazz as a young man

Pops was a Miles head, I am a Trane guy

Being from Philly, I am familiar with Sun Ra

As a young man, it was too abstract and a little weird

In middle age, Alice's swami vibe is f'n perfect

There's something about knowing it's a woman on the piano that takes it to another level

Her playing is nimble, light and soothing

Alice Coltrane...may just be my favorite female artist.

3028363, Sean Boog - Sean Boogie Nights

Been a big Justus League fan since the start so I was up on the Away Team stuff, but definitely missed some of the JL stuff in the early 10s. LB’s comeback album last year kinda got me checking for everyone else in that crew again, and plus Sean Boog just recently dropped a new EP - which is dope! But that Sean Boogie Nights solo album that dropped in 2012 was strong all the way through!

This one though. I run this one all the time.

Second Onyx album is dope as well.

Last Dayz just happens to be one of the greatest hip-hop tracks every recorded.

I didn’t even know Nottz made solo albums. What the hell was I doing back then??

Oh yeah - money was tight, I wasn’t on streaming yet if it even really existed(?) and the old “hear about it on OKP and download it off the internet for de Free days” were dying out.
