3027811, This post is dedicated to Hip Hop's prolific weirdos

In the spirit of Kool Keith, right now there are a lot of under-the-radar fringe rappers cranking out dozens of projects. Who are your favorites, currently, or in the past? I'll add a couple I always check for. Not every experiment is successful, but I can always count on something interesting. I'd list Moka Only, but compared to the others I'm listing, his content might as well be Top 40.

Ten-headed Skeleton (Michael Nhat)
https://tenheadedskeleton.bandcamp.com/

Grape God
https://grapegod.bandcamp.com/music
https://timetravel444.com/music

Beans (did you know he's released like a half dozen albums in the last year or two?)
https://beansiswack.bandcamp.com/

Coin Locker Kid
2/3 of what he does is unlistenable, the other third is fantastic and makes me think he needs to be cast in some Hamilton-type theatrical rap project:

https://coinlockerkid.bandcamp.com/

Add on! Or else I'll just have to keep going.

3027824, Tierra Whack ??

I want to add her to the list, however I don't get the sense she is cranking out music. She has singles, but I would love to see more full lengths.

Not sure if I would put Moka Only this list... he does crank out albums... but to your point... he is fairly conservative compared to some of the artists you listed. I've been a fan of his since 2001.

3027830, Labtekwon
Posted by stylez dainty, Thu Oct-22-20 09:55 AM
He's more a case of having amassed a big body of work over a long period of time, but his stuff is very well crafted and shouldn't be as sub-sub-underground as it is. Think he works as a school teacher.

3027896, okay this has potential
Posted by Stadiq, Fri Oct-23-20 04:58 PM
Need to dig more. So far so good. Any recs on where to start?

Thank you
3027904, I honestly haven't really dug into his stuff
Posted by stylez dainty, Fri Oct-23-20 09:24 PM
Generally, I tend to like the more recent stuff best. Some of the production on the early-mid 2000s stuff isn't my favorite.
3027831, Model Home
Posted by stylez dainty, Thu Oct-22-20 09:58 AM
Every release has a few songs I think sound great (I like noisy, messy rap half-songs) but most of their stuff doesn't work for me... yet. I think they'll get there.

3027832, Kool AD is out of control
Posted by stylez dainty, Thu Oct-22-20 10:00 AM
Another case where you have to sift through it all to find the gems. Others may be more weird, but not sure if any are more prolific.

Oaky (New Zealand/AUS has some great hip hop, some of it quite weird)

https://oakytreeraps.bandcamp.com/

Unsung (Chill, introspective)

Lord Apex (Sort of like a British version of Slums NY stuff)

3027857, Good post, keep these coming, I'll listen
Posted by Orbit_Established, Thu Oct-22-20 06:52 PM
3027862, Definitely have more to post.
Posted by stylez dainty, Thu Oct-22-20 08:48 PM
Sure there's bound to be something you'll dig (and plenty to make your ears bleed)
3027864, Chris Crack
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Oct-23-20 02:19 AM
Probably not quite as prolific as he was in like 2018, but he’s still good for two or three projects a year. And has the best song titles in the game.
3027874, I've liked what I've heard. Seems like he maintained good quality
Posted by stylez dainty, Fri Oct-23-20 10:46 AM
3027940, I get more out of his song titles than other people's albums

Posted by stylez dainty, Fri Oct-23-20 10:48 AM
Puts out a few projects a year, but they're all over the place as far as labels and platforms.

But this is one place for some of his more recent stuff. Love the "To the Max" album.

3028031, LOVE that Jueles album Butterflies
Posted by Adwhizz, Thu Oct-29-20 05:18 PM
really liked "Denehy", haven't listened to much else from him, but I hope he makes some more stuff like that Jueles album
3027877, V8 out of Chicago

Sounds kind of like a skeevier version of Mike Ladd. Lots of good stuff, with generally strong production. Probably like the Vampire Eater project the best.

3027878, Cities Aviv
Posted by stylez dainty, Fri Oct-23-20 10:54 AM
A few of his projects have made my best of the year lists. Like a smoother Death Grips. I really liked Raised for a Better View.

https://citiesaviv.bandcamp.com/
3027895, he produced a good portion of this
Posted by Stadiq, Fri Oct-23-20 04:57 PM

https://lukah.bandcamp.com/album/chickenwire

Which I enjoyed quite a bit. I think I prefer his production to his raps...they don't grab me.

But I like this Lukah shit.
3027879, Anyone up on Sharkula?
Posted by stylez dainty, Fri Oct-23-20 10:59 AM
Now we're crossing into "raving on a street corner" levels of weird, where you hope he has hot meals and such. He's honestly a bit out there even for me, but I liked this project:

https://hausumountain.bandcamp.com/album/prune-city
3028030, I'm aware of him because of his appearance on
Posted by Adwhizz, Thu Oct-29-20 05:16 PM
The Handsome Rambler podcast with Hannibal Burress

IT made for a fun podcast listen, he came across like a Biz Markie type if he never got a hit
3027892, I don't know about prolific
Posted by Stadiq, Fri Oct-23-20 04:43 PM

but are you up on uhuru noir? I don't even think he qualifies as "weird" but it seems like he's up your ally.

https://uhurunoir.bandcamp.com/album/body-of-light-the-issue-was-nothing-outside-of-myself

3027894, Haven't heard of him. Like what I hear a lot.
Posted by stylez dainty, Fri Oct-23-20 04:53 PM
Reminds me of Koreatown Oddity's vibe a bit. Sometimes I'm blown away by what's hiding on bandcamp.
3027898, that is a fair comparison
Posted by Stadiq, Fri Oct-23-20 05:03 PM
>Reminds me of Koreatown Oddity's vibe a bit.

but I notice it less as I spin the album more. Its up on Spotify now. I'd encourage you to spend more time with it.

Sometimes I'm
>blown away by what's hiding on bandcamp.

Right. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't know Spote Breeze existed, and that was one of my favorite records from last year. Just spinned it the other day.

I think I stumbled on a uhuru noir video on youtube or some shit.
3027901, Does Pink Siifu count?
Posted by KnowNaim_X, Fri Oct-23-20 07:45 PM
He's one of my favorite artists in the last few years.

https://ronee.bandcamp.com/album/negro

...very prolific.
3027902, He was one of the inspirations for this post.
Posted by stylez dainty, Fri Oct-23-20 08:25 PM
It's been interesting seeing his progression from his Liv Martez days. This song of his is one of my favorite songs of the last decade:

3027903, its fires in here...thanks for these

Lots of good releases. He has a great song with Billy Woods on here:

3027911, Darko The Super
Posted by amplifya7, Sat Oct-24-20 06:36 PM
Has a ridiculous number of albums, I think one year recently a released an album each month, all of it is definitely 'weirdo rap':

https://darkothesuper.bandcamp.com

Here's a music video he dropped 2 days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJliwnH64Vg
3027939, His label puts out some interesting stuff
Posted by stylez dainty, Sun Oct-25-20 09:14 PM
He's a poster child for this post. Both in the stuff he creates and the stuff he champions.
3027943, interesting video....

and interesting song.

Didn't know about this cat.

Experimental rap that gets downright ambient at times. He's part of a larger experimental hip hop (mostly) collective that is almost always worth checking out to me:

https://nounouhau.bandcamp.com/
3027958, Def Sound should be bigger than he is.
Posted by stylez dainty, Mon Oct-26-20 03:42 PM
The album Colored is really polished (but weird in a hip hop hippy sort of way) rap/soul. Feel good stuff.

https://defsound.bandcamp.com/
3027960, Mr. Yote
Posted by stylez dainty, Mon Oct-26-20 05:00 PM
Posted about him before. He does spooky alter-egos over haunted mansion beats, but its honestly way better than that sounds.

https://yoteland.bandcamp.com/
3028029, I like this New Kid Teezo Touchdown
Posted by Adwhizz, Thu Oct-29-20 05:10 PM
He first caught my attention with THIS fun track

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpVIiQM5Ewk

This is probably my favorite song I've heard from him though, actual DEEP emotion shown

3028040, This reminds me! How could I forget Lil B????
Posted by stylez dainty, Thu Oct-29-20 08:41 PM
I wanted to hate Mr. Touchdown, but he won me over. He's got that Lil B surprisingly positive weirdo sincerity.
3028204, I made a post of Lil B's "Good" songs a little while ago
Posted by Adwhizz, Tue Nov-03-20 04:34 PM
At one point Lil B was THE rapping-est dude alive

Not that he was particularly GREAT at it, he just rapped more often than anybody else.

He reminds me of Kool Keith in that Quality control is neither one's strong point.

Both have put out some music that was outright unlistenable, although Keith's Hit to Miss Ratio is WAY better.
