What is Boogie?
Is it just Disco Funk?

I feel like I know what it is, but I'm looking for a more nuanced discussion on it because
and I'm kinda low key obsessed with it.
I'm looking for suggestions and recommendations.

I thought it was more Neptunes R&B than boogie funk, but yeah, that fits.

Especially This City which I still run to this day.
The Neptunes hooked Snoop up on that album.
I'd love to know if those beats/songs were meant for someone else and they passed.

I followed him on Twitter until he got a little tin foil hatty lol but he posts a lot of tracks that I think fall in this genre.

Wow, sometimes I just wonder about artists on twitter, like they be going hard on there, but when it comes to fb it's crickets, Pete Rock is kind of like that on IG, he be repostin' some wild conspiracy videos and then post up some beats.

I vividly remember him posting some Marvin Gaye song he flipped and a lil bit later posting some dude getting snuffed. Like man get that shit outta here

...I have know idea what Boogie means genre wise (I'm pretty much mostly genre agnostic) but judging by some of the things on your list "Cameosis" by Cameo was the first thing that popped into my head....oh, and the group 'Foxy'

...so I don't know if they fit.

I personally think Heatwave fits in with the funk bands that came before them.

The sound I think i'm thinking of (ha) is more early 80-84.
More electro pop funk before Prince came and kinda changed it all up.

...ok most of the stuff im thinkin about would be before that i guess...like the other two that came to mind were 'firecracker' by mass production & 'firecracker' by yellow magic orchestra....

Their career began around the time of most of the records you mentioned before they became major players in the breakdance era.

It's definitely post funk, but a more slicked disco.
It's probably closer to R&B.

I know it's hard to nail down the sound cause it's kinda a niche of a niche.

and dance oriented whereas funk could be slow and not particularly dance oriented (funk came to be like rock or jazz - very broad in scope)

I think some people think mid-tempo stuff like Evelyn "Champagne" King "I'm in love" is boogie, but I just think the up-tempo stuff is boogie (but that one's a close call)

I think "tight" or "rhythmic snap" might be more precise than "inspiring concise dancing" because disco usually has a flowing rhythm (inspiring grand sprawling dancing).

Like dancing to "don't stop till you get enough" is more of a flowing move thing whereas dancing to "workin' day and night" is a more tight/concise thing.
