3025763, Can we Make a list of Lil B's Good* songs?
Posted by Adwhizz, Tue Jul-14-20 08:20 PM
Lil B, The Based God,

That Dude from the Pack.

His fame seems to have kinda died down and he was mostly known for being an internet "Ironic" meme,He didn't really do himself any favors dropping SO many damned projects/songs in a relatively short period of time. Most of which sounded like a one take freestyle over low quality production

he actually DID have glimmers of dopeness though if you were willing to sift through all the slop.

So lets list all the songs he made that were actually worth listening to

*Obviously this is subjective, and even his "Good Songs" are usually kind of awkward lyrically

3025764, Fucking With Me

Who else would decide to
A: Sample a Sarah McLachlan song for a rap tune
and
B:Come THIS hard over that sample

This is probably Lil B at his most focused as he actually manages to stay on topic
3035271, Also, Lil B Did this shit before everyone started rapping

over Vanessa Carlton's a thousand miles and other happy sounding pop tunes to make ratchet songs about murdering people
3025765, We Rare (w/ Chance The Rapper)

From their joint Freestyle EP Album, Chance's chorus and the beat pretty much make this song, but in terms of actual verses I actually like B's better than Chance (No name had the best verse overall on that project)

3035274, how many Lil B songs have you heard?
Posted by Stadiq, Fri Oct-22-21 10:41 PM

Do you think you have heard enough to say weather or not they are good?

3025773, Lil B/Kid Cudi- I see them (Prod by Eminem)

So today I learned this was originally a Kid Cudi song that B jumped on for his mixtape.

This whole time I thought it was an official Collabo

One of the most polished beats I've heard him rap over.
3025783, "i'm god" is the first song i think of when lil b is mentioned

holds up imo. i think his works with clams casino will be the songs that stand the test of time

b's legacy is tough to nail down. he had the gucci and wayne work ethic and prolificacy without their talent and skill. definitely a volume shooter that kind of couldn't shoot. however he was on the indie soundcloud/youtube wave way before anyone else and had a keen understanding of branding that most of his peers didn't. there is an assertion floating out there that lil b broke rap so it could be re-molded by the new generation. i tend to agree with it but i don't think it was purposeful on b's part. he seems to have had contrarian streak to him and a genuine bravery (remember he released an album called /i'm gay/ in 2011!) plus a sincere gives-no-fucks punk-ish attitude that a lot of younger artists seem to have been inspired by. i think a lot of the weirder and experimental hip hop floating around right now in all circles (indie, major, lyrical, conscious, street, etc.) can be directly traced back to b. imo he's an extremely important figure in hip hop for the above reasons but he'll mostly be judged by traditionalists solely on the poor quality of his then-ceaseless output
3025808, HA!

Yeah this is pretty accurate

At one point Lil B might have been THE rapping-est dude on earth.

Not that he was better at rapping than other people, he just did it more often than other people.

In some ways he reminds me of Kool Keith in that quality control wasn't a priority and they would put out some absolutely unalistenable, the difference is Keith actually has multiple moments of lyrical brilliance/classic songs and albums.

3025839, Yeah Lil B doesn't have an Ultramagnetic - Black Elvis period
Posted by Boogie Stimuli, Sat Jul-18-20 10:14 AM
Even if we cut his "top form" years off at Sex Style, Kool Keith was still one of the best doing it for over a decade. As bad as Keith's quality control became in later years, I still have a hard time comparing it to Lil B's lol. I do like one Lil B song tho. Problem is he has so much garbage that I can never find it due to me not being able to remember the name of it.
3035267, having followed him through the entirely of that ceaseless output

he might be in my top 20 lol. that dude just loved to rap man. idk if he ever met an idea he didnt like

3025809, Realest Alive, SOLELY for one lyric
Posted by Adwhizz, Thu Jul-16-20 06:30 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uE5DNFNB7jM

"Drake said he ain't cry when 2Pac died
I bet a dub he ain't say that shit if 'Pac was alive"

Which is probably the most literal, brilliantly Idiotic rap line ever.

The rest of the song is pretty good by LIl B Standards
3035260, 2 more additions to the list
Posted by Adwhizz, Fri Oct-22-21 08:10 AM
This is mainly because of the beat and Tommy Wright the 3rd but Based God didn't manage to bring this down

Bit of a stretch to call this "Good" but it made me laugh extremely hard so I'll add it on. This sounds like some shit Kool Keith would put out
