it 'could' be a love song to a lover...
or it 'could' be a song from someone reminiscing about an ex lover who split...
it 'could' be a song from a child expressing love to his/her mother/parent....
or it 'could' be a ode from a child to his/her mother/parent who has passed on....
such a great song....no matter how it's interpreted....

There are moments in the song where you can hear that his voice wasn't as strong. Plus this was the last track on The Shining, which was presented as the last vocal solo project he was working on before his passing. The first time I heard it, and it came to that somewhat abrupt ending with the snap/clap sound, it hit me again that he was truly gone. And I still get that feeling each time I hear it.

Hey Ya. There’s enough sadness or lament in the lyrics but I have viewed it for years as Andre trying to tell everyone that Outkast was over with. So it always makes me sad.
Pink Matter remix. Same thing. It sounds like Big Boi trying time rig up a reunion. The Andre reaction was especially undope for reunion wanters.
Tribe getting back together before Phife died could’ve been enough but nope. They ain’t got it. So Big Boi gets to keep trying to be a 1-person Outkast and andre hopefully enjoys his remaining earth days.
