3020747, Single verse where the MC catches the holy ghost
Posted by cal.25, Thu Dec-05-19 07:16 AM
I heard Slam by Onyx recently and that last verse from Sticky is chilling.. that song is already high energy but the sound in Sticky's voice in his verse is something different - like he caught the holy studios right there in the studio

Post up your favourites like this - where one verse stands out with an MC spazzing out

Speaking of...

Does anybody have that "other" version of Rampage where theyre spitting different verses? It sounds theyre just hanging out but still using the "slow down baby" between the verses

By De La. That verse fucking goes. "Now your, empire, fell like the Lakers, so you're talkin to your maker" etc.

I may just look back on it nostalgically because it was sort of his comeback moment, his restatement of purpose after folks wrongly crushed him over Electric Circus.

But either way that verse is fire.

Posted by navajo joe, Fri Dec-06-19 10:02 AM
Look, 20+ years later I'm still in awe of what he was doing from 1997-2003 in terms of guest spots and freestyles.

He would just black the fuck out and this is probably one of the earliest and best examples of where he just got on and spit a grillion bars of pure fire outclassing anyone else on the track

Canibus brings the sickest drama
Fierce enough to pierce the thickest armor
I smack bitches who try to suck dick through the condom
Playing with the mic is something I won't do
My only concern when I approach you, is to roast you
I smoke you and whoever you standing close to
And make every man in your crew deny that he knows you
Defeating niggas like Segal, Steven
Putting Emcees in positions to prevent them from breathin'
I'll make you question any and everything you've ever believed in
By peeping your deepest secrets like psychic readers
What's the matter with ya'll, I splatter ya'll
Against the muthafuckin wall with these raw lyrics I catapult
None of ya'll got the balls big enough to battle
I go On & On like Erykah Badu
A hundred times nicer than the best is
Twice as African as KRS is, who wanna test this?
Fuck y'all you don't impress me and no one can test me
An emcee so ill, I got AIDS scared to catch me
All that shit you poppin' will stop, when I put you in a headlock,
And apply pressure until I crush your muthafuckin noggin
I grab mics and push niggas to the left
So fast their hearts end up on the right side of their chests
My hypothesis, is that nobody can see this
Lyrical genius, I got it sown like a seamstress
But if you want to battle, I'm down
If you got nine lives, I'll take eight of them off your hands right now
Step up and get your neck cut from ear to ear
If you survive then you can cover up your scar with a beard
I'm the illest from Queens to the new Jerusalem briddicks
Anyone who ain't feeling my shiddit can suck my diddick
You need to quit it, if you ain't spittin'
More than 50 bars per minute cause you ain't in lyrical fitness
Kickin' boring raps with metaphors that's wack
All of ya'll muthafuckas need Nordictrack
To get ya weight up, fuckin with Canibus you get ate up
Beat down and sprayed up, just for bringing my name up
Been rockin' longer than niggas twice my age
Back in the days before Bob Marley was rockin' a fade
Before Honest Abe signed the paper that freed slaves
Before Neanderthals was drawing on walls in caves
I existed, in the garden of Eden gettin' lifted
Stickin' dick to Eve before she was Adam's mistress
Before Christ created Christmas, I been in lyrical fitness
The Canibus is spittin' til' he's spitless
50 bars of total sickness, you won't forget this
I'm puttin' every wack emcee alive on my shit list
Verbally vicious, telekinetically gifted
Took you a minute to exhibit that I'm sick wit it
Now you tell me who you think is damaging shit
Going once, going twice
Sold! to that nigga name Canibus
Me and Mr.Cheeks, A-Plus, and Funk Doctor
Hopping out the Huey helicopter to suey chop ya.

Reading that made me look up dudes discography and dude made all sorts of dope album cuts and a few big singles (I didn't remember he did like 7 joints on Janet's All 4 You album)....he hasn't been on much this decade at all.

It doesn't help that much of the people in his heyday even drop music these days....I would guess that plays a part.

Gotta give Rockwilder his props tho, he got a gang of beats where they don't sound anything alike. He did some soul sampling, that (kinda cheesy) keyboard shit....some rock beats and boom-bap too.

He might be like Bink where he's just sitting on a ton of heat but don't really chase placements.

Bear witness as I exercise my exorcism
The evil that lurks within the sin, the terrorism
Possessed by evil spirits, voices from the dead
I come forth with Gravediggaz in a head full of dread
I've been examined ever since I was semen
They took a sonogram and seen the image of a demon
At birth nurses surrounded me with needles
And drugged me all up with the diseases of evil
Grew up in Hell, now I dwell in an Islamic temple
I’m fighting a holy war in the mental
Look deep into my eyes you'll see visions of death
Possessed by homicide is what I am obsessed
Giving niggas brain dimples
Dragging their asses on my hook by their temples
The cause of death is unknown to the cops
Cause when I kill 'em, I’m not leaving one element to autops'
First I'll assassinate him, and them I'll cremate him
Then take all of his fucking ashes and evaporate him
I'll creep through the graveyard and hunt down your tombstone
Dig up your skeleton and stomp all your fucking bones
You try to haunt me nigga, I ain't tryna hear it
Buck buck buck, I'll give your ass a holy spirit

Posted by Brew, Wed Jan-22-20 08:51 PM
Kurupt could prolly have like 15-20 submissions to this list from his early days.

In fact I meant to post about him in the "Failed Rap Predictions" post earlier today; after Doggfather came out I predicted that Kurupt would ultimately have a better career than Snoop. Off the strength of his performances on The Chronic, Doggystyle, Dogg Food, and all his work in between; compared with Snoop seemingly slipping a bit on Doggfather/after his murder trial, I was thinking that it was Kurupt's time. I'd always thought he was the better lyricist from a technical standpoint, anyway.
