3017029, Why was the reference to '96 censored on Redman's Funkorama?

On Funkorama (Redman) the word '96' was bleeped out.

On Tribe's The Chase, Part II Tip says 'I don't wanna say nine-tre
Cause my man Extra P said don't say the years.' I thought it was odd that he said that but didn't know why he said it in the first place.

Was there some kind of legal reason for all of this?
3017031, Not wanting to date the song? \_(ツ)_/¯

3017032, Pretty sure it's "'95."

The song was recorded in 1995 but released either at the end of that year or at the very beginning of 1996. They edited the year out so as not to date it.
