...after he heard J-Dilla's remix for Brand New Heavies' "Saturday Night", which is basically a cover of "Got's To Give It Up" anyways but I guess Pharrell thought taking a simplistic stripped down approach wouldn't trigger anybody thinking it's an interpolation of Marvin's song.
