3010092, Ghostface Killah "The Lost Tapes"
Posted by IslaSoul, Fri Oct-05-18 01:54 AM

+ Production is nice enough
+ Ghost sounds inspired

- too many guests, you almost forget you're listening to a Ghostface
album
- Michael Rapaport

3010095, sounds mailed in tbh
Posted by Nabs, Fri Oct-05-18 06:30 AM
ghostface doesn't sound so great on here, i hope he's doing okay.

beats are okay, i'm not much of a fan.
3010098, I need Ghost back on that dust

Not feeling this. He sounds sick too. Doesn’t sound like himself.
3010101, Sonically this record is really dope!!!
Posted by My_SP1200_Broken_Again, Fri Oct-05-18 08:17 AM
...guests sound more inspired than Starks though ..and that NEVER happens ...still this LP has replay value to me after first listen

3010102, I compared to his more recent featurings
Posted by IslaSoul, Fri Oct-05-18 08:33 AM
but yea, I definitely agree that he gets outshined alot here.
3010104, his last few records to me have been kinda blah.... to me at least
Posted by My_SP1200_Broken_Again, Fri Oct-05-18 09:36 AM
3010145, I like 'Sour Soul' but yes, other than that, everything after 'Apollo Kids'
Posted by IslaSoul, Sat Oct-06-18 03:27 AM
has been very underwhelming
3010105, the intro ruined it for me
Posted by Small Pro, Fri Oct-05-18 09:38 AM
>- Michael Rapaport

no country for the boul
3010109, Are we ever getting a real Ghostface album again.
Posted by phemom, Fri Oct-05-18 09:44 AM
Side projects are cool (I actually was really into the 36 Seasons) but where the Blue & Cream at?

...then again since he isn't on a major anymore I'd imagine clearing the samples Ghost use would be hell, so maybe he's just getting bread up to pay up?
3010130, Majestic Accolades is a problem...
Posted by ry 213, Fri Oct-05-18 08:04 PM
Haven't got further in than that track yet...
3010131, Hus Kingpin on there.
Posted by High Society, Fri Oct-05-18 08:06 PM
3010132, I feel bad for Big Ghost LTD.
Posted by High Society, Fri Oct-05-18 08:12 PM
He’s in the business so he’s gotta ride for it.
But this is the worst of his albums so far and it’s not his fault.

I mean - this whole project was half assed except for the beats.
Like the artwork for singles looked like club flyers with appearances by
whoever was on the song.

They photoshopped Ghost’s face off The Fishscale COVER
for one of the singles artwork.

He’s first on I think every song but one...

Why the fuck is called The Lost Tapes with all new verses?
Makes NO SENSE.

I dunno if I’ve even seen Ghost tweet about it today.

Ghost sounds hype but he almost wack now.
He sound like he reading off a sheet of paper, I been saying that
for like the last 3-4 projects.

Maybe it’s health issues, I dunno.

3010133, RE: I feel bad for Big Ghost LTD.

No sense at all. The Lost Tapes should be unreleased music from his classic era.
3010137, I feel like except “Sour Soul,” he’s phoned in every album in the last...

Five years. I haven’t heard this one yet, but I don’t know where the passion went.
3010141, I gotta revisit that album.
Posted by High Society, Fri Oct-05-18 11:40 PM
I know I was hype as fuxk for it because Ghost is my guy
and I was heavy into BBNG at the time.

Was underwhelmed upon release but it’s been a minute.
Need to give it another go.
3010177, 12 Reasons to Die Part 2 was really good too
Posted by Adwhizz, Sun Oct-07-18 10:30 AM
That first 12 Reasons had great beats but Ghost was wooden.
3010136, Snoop, E40 and Kane sound dope as fuck on these beats
Posted by ry 213, Fri Oct-05-18 09:03 PM
Kane sounds rejuvenated. I would LOVE to hear an entire album from him sounding like this.

I agree with others about Ghost sounding off on this album, but the album is still dope to me. A nice surprise.
3010148, ZzzZzzZzzzz

3010496, Ehhhh this is better than y'all said. Not great, but GOOD
Posted by Orbit_Established, Mon Oct-15-18 09:17 PM
Good looks for keeping my expectations low

I'm enjoying this

3018807, Wait, the producer Big Ghost is whoever was behind the parody blog??
Posted by topaz, Tue Sep-17-19 06:35 AM
Wow, now that's coming full circle. The beats are definitely the highlight of this album, as well as Planet Asia and BDK. Also laughing at Radiohead getting a mention on that rock joint.
3018818, Yep. Same Big Ghost Ltd.
Posted by High Society, Tue Sep-17-19 09:17 AM
He’s a producer. He’s got maybe 7-8 LPs under his belt?

This might be the worst one.
He’s got:

Big Ghost x Griselda (Conway & WSG) - Griselda Ghost (very early Griselda stuff, very good)
Big Ghost x Vic Spencer - The Ghost of Living
Big Ghost x Hus Kingpin - Cocaine Beach (my favorite)
Big Ghost x CRIMEAPPLE - Aguardiente (my 2nd favorite)
Big Ghost x Ankhlejohn - Van Ghost (this almost sounds like some east coast Schoolboy Q shit)
Big Ghost x D Brash - Chicaghost
Big Ghost x 38 Spesh - A Bullet for Every Heathen (38 Spesh is crazy)

Big Ghost x Jay-Z - Black Album Reimagining

I’ve had a convo or two with Big Ghost, he really fuxks with that first Rza run.
He said he wants to compete with that run of solos, otherwise why are you doing it?
I’ll give him this much... each album has its own sound, like the Wu solos.
He brings a distinct soundscape to each artist.

Cocaine Beach is more laid back, ocean breeze through the open sliding condo door, , early morning diner run - chicks stashing new straws in their purse. Don’t get it twisted though, drums still hard as fuck.

Aguardiente has more sense of urgency to it, like time is running out. If we gonna win, it’s gonna be now! The world feels more closed in and claustrophobic. Again, BANGING drums.

I really fuxk with what Big Ghost is doing.
So can only imagine my excitement for his work with Ghostface. I thought wow - we might get a real gem late in Ghosttface’s career. Unfortunately, probably were never in same room. Big Ghost probably didn’t even get to explain his vision to Ironman.

I’m hoping he works with planet Asia, elcamino or willie the kid.
3018845, Thanks, I'll check some of those out!
Posted by topaz, Tue Sep-17-19 08:15 PM
I feel like Ghost lost a lot of his passion after Wizard of Poetry flopped. Could also be because of age/health I suppose.
3018846, interesting. I remember he was super hype about Wizard.
Posted by High Society, Tue Sep-17-19 08:54 PM
He was always ill on the r&b features.
Def Jam was going through changes I think.
Probably didn't get push he wanted, felt jaded.
