I'm not talking about who is better, I'm saying what 5 MC's are your go to's. The ones that are always in your rotation.

Mine would be,

KRS-One
Lord Finesse
Black Thought
Planet Asia

....I pretty much always have something from these 5 in rotation at all times. It helps that 4 out of the 5 release new music consistently tho.

Feel like a lot of people wouldn't even consider him. I would, even though he wouldn't ultimately make it. He's prob somewhere in my top 10-15 were I to guess.
2999908, I'm Bay Area born and raised, so that might explain my selections
Posted by natenate101, Fri Jan-05-18 12:45 AM
Growing up on Native Tongue affiliates like Hiero, and The Blowed groups/MCs it would be hard not include the artist that hit me the hardest from the West. Ace One can do anything, and All Balls Don't Bounce and A Book of Human Language alone are better than many others' entire discography. He is underrated for sure, but some of his more lackluster release the past 10 years haven't helped. All say this too, of all the Fellowship MCs, Self Jupiter is the one that does the most for me these days. Aceyalone and Fat Jack have a joint album about to come out this year and I am ready for it! Props to your list as wel, can't go wrong with any of those legends.
2999909, You about to have me dig out A Book of Human Language
Posted by Soletaker, Fri Jan-05-18 12:56 AM
Been a super hot minute since I listened to that album.
2999917, Agree with you for sure man.

2999925, Last few years? Nas, Phonte, Q-Tip, Big KRIT, Fabolous
Posted by DJR, Fri Jan-05-18 11:49 AM
That’s who I’ve probably listened to the most, recently.

Never liked Fab’s music beyond a song or verse here and there until the Soul Tape series. He’s become one of my go to’s since. All 3 Soul Tapes, Summertime Shootouts and the album with Jadakiss all have been staying in rotation.

KRIT was my favorite from like 2011-2013 and he’s back in a major way with the new album. Love that album.

Tribe/Q-Tip, Little Brother/Phonte, and Nas have never left my rotation, though I’m waiting on new solo albums from all of them....especially Nas and Phonte(kinda gave up on new Q-Tip and we got that Tribe album instead so it’s cool).

Others got much more run in the past(LL, Redman, Common, Posdnous, Dre 3000, KRS, Cube, Pete and CL, Guru, etc.) but haven’t really played their music much in a long time.

They are the five MCs that've made me wince the most.

I listened to both "2nd Childhood" and "One Love" yesterday in separate settings and in both instances thought to myself, there's no one else who can paint a picture like this. No one.

When Nas is at his best, he's untouchable.
