2991093, Your other favorite music-related websites Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Wed May-31-17 08:25 PM
I haven't made an effort to look deep into music culture lately.
But the other day I stumbled on this website, Micro-Chop. https://medium.com/micro-chop
It's a collection of music reviews and factoids from various underground musicians from the last thirty years. There's a piece on People's Instinctive Travels' early demos being a pause tape, apiece on Biz's Just A Friend at one time being called You Must Be On Speed until Q-Tip got in Biz's head to rework the song, and another on DJ Shadow making Endroducing. And it's all well written and seemingly well-researched.
He has a sister site that is linked to Micro-Chop that's interesting as well. It had a story on Dills that reported that it took Dills 20 minutes to make Get a Hold.
Somewhat are your fav sites to dig into music?

Used to be way into allmusic.com and last.fm, but they've changed their priorities so much over the last 12-18 months that both sites are pretty much user-unfriendly for me and both are pretty much a last resort at this point.
I read Stereogum fairly regularly.
As far as other music forums, ilxor.com is my top place.
