I generally dont like the hard rock guitar riffs that were used in a lot of 80's rap. That being said there are some dope songs with that sound, but generally I dont like it. Much prefer songs with funk samples...

The glassy sounding rhodes piano just always rubbed me the wrong way.

but I'm warming up to some of the other 80's synths.

( as long as they don't use that shitty Synth Bass like in "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins)

2988480, Are those the synths used in this Beyonce song?

Seems like 80's artists ( usually teen artists) made REALLY bad covers. I like covers if they're well done, but most of the 80's slipped the tempo and turned the song completely upside down, generally with bad results.

that big 80's reverb sound that everybody put on their drums. I'm looking at you Phil Collins.

examples:
"If you Leave" - OMD
"Beat Box" Art of Noise ( still a classic tune, though)
"Land of Confusion"- Genesis
"The Reflex" - Duran Duran
"True Faith" - New Order

2988481, What do you call those salt shaker percussion used in everything?

Drawing a blank on others who used it.

I don't hate it, but it so dates songs.

2988485, Shakers. Most 80's drum machines had bad ones.

They didn't really sound good until the later Rolands like the R-8.
