I do think The Roots and Devo have *A LOT* in common.
I'll make a mega-post about it one day - but some of you have heard this theory.
NNote: Jerry Casale was in the group at Kent State when the national guard opened fire - this made him ever so slightly more cynical than anyone in The Roots - but the worldview are pretty similar.
