More or less in order

Amy Winehouse
Craig David
M People
Brand New Heavies
Dusty Springfield
Estelle
Adele
Mark Ronson
Beatles

My tastes run a bit narrower than most.
2955379, the brand new heavies were my favorite 90's British act

The Beatles

Sex Pistols

Radiohead

Spacehog (yeah I know they were living in the USA when they formed, I think, but I'm realizing I don't really like much UK acts after all so in the list they go)

The Police (yeah, I know Stewart is originally from the USA)

Bow Wow Wow

.....I'm tapped out. I'd really hate to even acknowledge Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Cream, the Clash, Jethro Tull, Genesis....not that they're bad but it would be irritating to say I like them in any way.

Who is Richard Thompson?
2955485, Richard Thompson has been active since the late 60s
Posted by TomWaitsInOkkervil, Tue Jan-26-16 06:17 PM
He was a member of Fairport Convention, a folk-rock band, then went on in the 70s to release albums with his then-wife Linda Thompson, and also a lot of solo work. He's a prolific songwriter and extremely gifted and versatile guitar player

2955410, Noel Gallagher's List

from an amazing esquire interview: http://noel-gallagher.esquire.co.uk/

"I used to put us at number seven. It went The Beatles, the Stones, the Sex Pistols, The Who, The Kinks… who came in at six? I don’t know. We were at seven. The Smiths were in there, The Specials. Where would I put us now? I guess I’d probably put us in the top 10. We weren’t as great as the greats but we were the best of the rest. We did more than The Stone Roses could fucking even fathom. We’re better than The Verve: couldn’t fucking keep it together for more than six months at a time. If all the greats are in the top four, we’re in the bottom of the top four, we’re kind of constantly fighting for fifth, just missing out. Just missing out on the top four, I’d say."

other highlights (so hard to pick just two)

"I’m aware that Radiohead have never had a fucking bad review. I reckon if Thom Yorke fucking shit into a light bulb and started blowing it like an empty beer bottle it’d probably get 9 out of 10 in fucking Mojo. I’m aware of that."

"I’ll tell you what’s wrong. Fame’s wasted on these cunts today. Bar Kanye. You watch him on the MTV Awards and you think, “You can fucking stay, you’re alright.”"

LMAO! Tears!
2955538, As a Brit i should get in on this
Posted by Jimbo Jones, Wed Jan-27-16 10:45 AM
1. Led Zeppelin
2. The Beatles
3. Radiohead
4. David Bowie
5. Queen
6. Rolling Stones
7. The Smiths
8. The Cure
Gets tricky here, the last 2 spots are a toss up between Black Sabbath, Amy Winehouse, Joy Division, Kate Bush, Portishead, Sex Pistols, Public Image Ltd, The Jam & The Who.

Surprised no one went for Slick Rick or DOOM since they were born in London but maybe people forget about that.
2955554, I'm not terribly familiar with a lot of British acts, so pardon my ignorance
Posted by Sleepy, Wed Jan-27-16 02:22 PM
In order of what comes to my mind first

Winehouse
Duran Duran
Genesis/Phil Collins
Soul II Soul/Caron Wheeler
Lisa Stansfield
Loose Ends
Radiohead
Beatles
Bee Gees
Sade

Adele is quickly moving onto this list.

EDIT: I forgot about Dusty Springfield. I'm a big fan. I'd put her in over Radiohead.
