'The Spirit Music Jamia: Dance of the Infidel' was Meshells jazz focused album that came out in 2005 and it's one helluva record. like Meshell herself, its got a very wide range of expressions on it yet it feels extremely cohesive and 'of one spirit'. i strongly suggest you give this one several spins and let it sink in. there are some big broad bold musical strokes taken here and some very subtle musical details that all intertwine and play with each other and ultimately make for what i think is a super exciting, refreshing musical ride. It's both beautiful and moving and can float you light & high flying one second, and it can ALSO be very 'gutteral' and visceral and thrust you over the top and wooshing down the steepest hill, your heart thumping in your chest all the way down. its good stuff...
but i'm a fan, so....

i'm curious to hear what YOU think about though, so after you listen a handful of times and digest it , maybe post back with your thoughts (be they pro or con) on this record.
