2899298, "Modern" Jazz Recomendations
Posted by Kosa12, Sat Aug-30-14 07:06 PM
I tried this topic on another music board and it went pretty well, so I'm bringing it here....

Lately I've gotten really into a relatively young jazz pianist, Gerald Clayton (who has released 3 fantastic albums....I recently made a topic about him here, of course it went wood but anyway...) and reading stuff about him has led me to some other young jazz artists such as Aaron Diehl or Ambrose Akinmusire, which leads me to the point of me making this thread....

Pretty much I'm just looking for recommendations of jazz albums that have recently come out (lets say mid 2000s and higher) and are by "young" (which I guess in this case would be 80s babies and up) jazz artists. It can be any kind of jazz: straight-ahead, free, fusion, vocal, I'm up for anything to be honest. Just trying to expand my knowledge of jazz that has recently came out. Thanks in advance.

edit: I forgot to include that albums that feature mostly original compositions are preferred. Though obviously if its someone reinterpreting a standard and its great, I'll check it out too.

For Example:
