As far as percussion goes.. the song has one snare per bar. Thats it! NO kick drum. but it BANGS!! Like how is that possible?

It perplexes me that I characterize this as a Boom Bap hip hop song when the shit technically only got a "Bap"

-Honorable mention for the Price-Is-Right-esque horns at the start of the song (who thinks to do that!?!).

-Honorable mention for the synth & trumpet build-up to close out the song

Its a gem of a song that was approached with a type of unconventional simplicity that doesnt sound good on paper, but works masterfully when you hear it.

Listened to the Bey song.. And yeah we talkin bout two different things here. Im referring to the complete absence of a kick drum on what is still a dope/dancable song. A harder feat in my opinion....
