2866759, The Champs have been on point...Big Daddy Kane
Posted by boyd, Wed Jan-22-14 08:23 PM
first mc serch
and now
big daddy kane
2866770, do they know anything about Kane's career?
Posted by Bombastic, Wed Jan-22-14 08:51 PM
because Quest's text cues saved them on Serch's when it was pretty clear they didn't.

That being said, I'm looking forward to hearing it anyway because it's Kane & I'm deep in the depths of podcast junkiedom.

are they from the bay?
they probably
didn't know too much
about east coast

2866912, Moshe is from Oakland, Neil Brennan's a 40-year-old from Lower Merion PA

who just doesn't really know shit about hip-hop as is painfully obvious whenever he has anyone from that world on with him.

Case in point here with him stating his three greatest rap albums of all-time were Takes A Nation (mentioned only because BDK had just said it), My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy & Check Your Head.
2866818, God, these two are kinda fucking painful on this, particularly Neil
Posted by Bombastic, Wed Jan-22-14 11:16 PM
dude ain't funny enough to keep interrupting with the quips nor does he really know anything about the music to keep speaking on artists/eras extemporaneously like he does here.

He's got a level of 'speaking-authoritatively-borderline-condescendingly-while-espousing-fake-facts/theories-on-shit-he-really-doesn't-know' that is just grating at times.

Twenty minutes left & it's kinda hard to get through, for any who haven't heard the Kane Combat Jack you might be better off trying that first.

^^^^ agree.
they have interesting guests and topics but dude can be annoying with that. he always repeats this stupid black dudes growing up around white folks theory sounding mad uninformed.
2867029, Kane's Combat Jack is one of the best podcasts I've ever heard

there is not a doubt in my mind we'd crush these clowns.

Any lurking or trolling venture-capitalists reading this, please.....do the right thing, give Bomb & Orbit a budget to talk to these legends correctly.

Thanks in advance.

I used to talk to dudes like this for a living.
2867156, yah really.
Posted by denny, Sat Jan-25-14 02:16 AM
These guys are annoying. Everytime they try to make a point about anything related to race my shoulders tense up and my eyes squint. I respected the constraint that Kane showed here....but eventually I was hoping for him to just let loose on these guys. They're the reason someone made up that term 'whitesplaining'.
2866877, Riff Raff's episode >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Posted by philpot, Thu Jan-23-14 11:18 AM
2866882, this show only works with certain guests
Posted by Nick Has a Problem...Seriously, Thu Jan-23-14 11:44 AM
BDK ain't one of them
2866925, It pretty much only works with comedians
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Jan-23-14 02:10 PM
As Bomb said above, the Serch episode was great because ?uest told them what to ask. They're better off playing to their strength. Their episode with Chris Rock is all around awesome.
2867020, I don't know I loved the too short and pras episodes
Posted by makaveli, Fri Jan-24-14 07:50 AM
pras has some crazy stories as well. agreed on the Chris rock episode though. and that big crazy Mexican comedian dude was a good one too.
2867108, With Pras it was different; you don't have to go too deep with him
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Jan-24-14 06:50 PM
A lot of the interesting stuff just came from the basic question/situations: Pras talking about knowing 'Pac was inspired by them seeing Suge at dinner the night before. Him talking about the whole Jersey scene with Treach, Redman, and Clef came from the basic "How did you get started in hip-hop?" question. In wasn't like their inside knowledge lead to a particularly unique interviews questions.
2867120, It works with guests you don't give a shit about, really.

Posted by Adwhizz, Fri Jan-24-14 03:18 AM
I need to go download that shit.

I'm listening to their episode with robert townsend right now
2867096, Sorry, no more goofy nerd podcast hosts
Posted by Orbit_Established, Fri Jan-24-14 05:17 PM

These dudes are INSUFFERABLE

Good lord

ZERO humor

Same with the white dude on Juan Epstein

Combat Jack are the only tolerable hosts
2867110, The problem with these guys isn't that they're nerds
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Jan-24-14 06:54 PM
The problem is they constantly want to "get in on the act" and shine, because they're comedians and they like the attention. So they keep on interrupting with jokes and non-sequiturs instead of just letting their guests talk. Because they don't have the in-depth knowledge and they want the podcast to ultimately still be about them.

I think that's why these guys are better with comedians, but they're speaking the same shared language and can directly relate to their experiences.
2867112, They're comedians? Wouldn't that require them to be funny?
Posted by Orbit_Established, Fri Jan-24-14 07:09 PM

They both gave a shitty interview and weren't funny.

it takes a certain sensibility
2867119, What sensibility? The "awful sense of humor" sensibility?

but that's why it's a podcast, not a radio program, meaning you can choose to just not listen
2867118, LOL -- you can choose to listen to anything, dumbass.

What in the hell does this have to do with anything

Weirdo

I don't mind Moshe tho. I don't really need these types of interview podcasts to be funny, my favorite episodes are the more deep and enlightening ones like the Aries Spears ep.
