2865796, Burn Hollywood Burn had the best lineup of rappers on it, of all time
Posted by DJR, Wed Jan-15-14 11:02 PM
Think about it. Chuck D, Ice Cube, Big Daddy Kane. You could make an argument that that is 3 of the 10 best rappers ever. Hell, 3 of the top 5. There could be disagreements, but nobody could really tell you that you're wrong if you made that argument. And there's nobody else with a lower status or ability on the song. Just 3 of the absolute best at or close enough to their peaks, and that's it.

I can't think of another song with 3+ rappers on it, with a stronger lineup.

Any candidates out there? 3 or more legit hall of famers. No wack rappers(obviously). No mediocre rappers. No simply "good" rappers. 3 or more of the absolute elite rappers on it, and nobody else!!??

I'm not saying it's the GOAT song or anything, or even the greatest performances by all dope rappers on a song(IMO Cube's verse was just there, but with one great line). But Chuck/Kane/Cube. Back then. In their primes. Give me a better LINEUP. Is there one?

just going down my first favorite 100 albums

every Wu-Tang cut.

Raekwon - Guillotine (Swordz) with Ghostface, Inspectah Deck and GZA
OutKast - Skew It on the Bar-B with Big Boi, Andre 3000 and Raekwon
OutKast - Git Up, Git Out with Cee-Lo, Andre 3000, Big Boi and Big Gipp
Mobb Deep - Eye for an Eye with Prodigy, Nas and Raekwon
Curren$y - The Day with Curren$y, Jay Electronica and Mos Def

Clipse - I'm Not You with Pusha T, Malice Jadakiss, Styles P and Roscoe P. Coldchain
hell, every We Got It for Cheap track
Eminem - Bitch Please II with Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Xzibit
Above the Law - The Last Song with KMG, Dr. Dre, Eazy E, MC Ren and Cold 187um

LOT of killer lineups out there. wasn't around for Kane's prime but Burn Hollywood Burn is in there and it's one of the few I gave a perfect 5 to so it's definitely hard to fuck with, but I'm not sure I could ever pick out the one lineup that got me more excited, on paper, than any other. AT THE TIME, probably that Clipse track.

2865801, Three or more? Well, there's "Self Destruction"
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Jan-16-14 01:58 AM
A line-up of KRS, Kool Moe Dee, Stetsasonic, MC Lyte, D-Nice, Just Ice, Doug E. Fresh, Heavy D, and Chuck D, all in their prime, is pretty hard to fuck with. I guess Ms. Melodie would be the weak link, but her verse fine on it.

2865802, Also, the Symphony. Masta Ace, Craig, G Rap, and Kane
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Jan-16-14 01:59 AM
Masta Ace and Craig were at the beginning of their careers at the time, but they turned out to be great MCs.
2865945, Craig's not on that level
Posted by DJR, Thu Jan-16-14 10:36 PM
Really, Ace isn't quite either even though he's a great rapper with a fantastic career.

2865804, Classic - RAKIM, NAS, KRS.. and Kanye.
Posted by Original Juice, Thu Jan-16-14 04:20 AM
Sure 2/3 or 3/3 of the certifiable top 5/top 10 of all time guys on the track may have been past their career peaks, but they all came with it.. Over a good to great Primo beat.

Verbal Intercourse - NAS, Rae, Ghost all in their primes over a classic RZA beat produced at his creative peak. Most put NAS up there, many put Ghost, and Chef is on a few lists (hardcore Wu Stans). This is more of a classic song as opposed to a lineup of GOATS, but it's definitely debatable.

Got My Mind Made Up - PAC, Red, Meth, Kurupt.. and Daz.

The Anthem - The Wake Up Show f/KGR, Eminem, Monch, RZA.. and Chino, Jayo, and TechNyne.

All debatable when considering the OP's criteria; however mrhood's suggestions of Self Destruction is pretty undeniable. Not a trio of GOATS, a whole herd. The Symphony is a classic, and KGR and BDK are undisputedly great.. Ace is a fave, but..

2865946, impressive lineup, but KRS and Rakim were well past their primes
Posted by DJR, Thu Jan-16-14 10:42 PM
Kane, Chuck, and Cube were all in or very close to being in their primes.

If KRS, Rakim, and a young Nas had been on the same track in '92 or something, that's different.

Good one. Close. Rae is a hall of famer, but not quite to the level of Cube/Chuck/Kane, IMO.

>Got My Mind Made Up - PAC, Red, Meth, Kurupt.. and Daz.

See this was one of many tracks that came up when I was racking my brain for something on that level, before I made the post. Kurupt killed it and is/was a great rapper but not really a heavyweight on that level. And obviously Daz, dope producer and I like him well enough as a rapper, but he's not up there as an MC.

>The Anthem - The Wake Up Show f/KGR, Eminem, Monch, RZA.. and
>Chino, Jayo, and TechNyne.

I don't even like half of them, so I can't go for that.

2866063, Buddy is corny, ESP the version with "Heartbeat"
Posted by c71, Fri Jan-17-14 04:14 PM
"how ya want it we got it" is light-years better than buddy

No verse on "Buddy" rates anything

"How ya want it we got it" verses hit hard.

Other than "Self-Destruction," was this the only time Chuck & KRS were on the same track?
2865840, KRS was on one of the songs on the He Got Game album

I remember my mind melting having dudes from 3 very different veins of hip-hop on the same track. That is what makes this track great to me.

2865903, Not better than Nas verse
Posted by 13Rose, Thu Jan-16-14 05:02 PM
Otherwise I'll give it the nod.
2865947, I've seen Rae mentioned a lot in here
Posted by DJR, Thu Jan-16-14 10:45 PM
I love Rae, and think he's a great rapper still.

But I never saw him as being on the level that Cube, Kane, and Chuck were in their primes. Even when Rae had the best album out with OB4CL, I still didn't quite see him on that level. He's an A- type, where Chuck, Kane, and Cube were A+'s.
2865989, You really love Chuck huh?
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Fri Jan-17-14 11:22 AM
Not hating. It's all opinion and personal taste.

I just never personally had Chuck up there like that.

Also, LL's 5,4,3,2,1 w/Red, Meth, DMX and Canibus
