Arguably the Lesson's most polarizing MC has a project dropping this Tuesday...
Man Bites Dog Records
Roc Maricano is still on his grizzle after releasing a slew of street bangers throughout 2013. His recent mixtape, ‘The Pimpire Strikes Back,’ landed on our Top 10 list of the Best Mixtapes of 2013. Now Roc is going to hit us with his full-length project, ‘Marci Beaucoup.’
The New York rhymer unveiled the cover art and tracklist for the collection, which is due out in stores Dec. 10. The artwork boasts a severed hat, a derby and two piercing eyes staring at you.
Marciano solely produced the collection, which features guest appearances from Evidence (‘Love Means’), Ka, and Guilty Simpson (‘Squeeze’), Action Bronson (’456′), Blu (‘Cut the Check’), Cormega (‘War Scars’), Freeway (‘Didn’t Know’) and Gangrene (Alchemist & Oh No) .
“This is going to be an album where I’m doing all of the production and I’m featuring a lot of artists that I work with,” said Marciano about the album (quotes courtesy of Hip-HopDX). “Every song is me featuring artists that I f— with in the business. Most of this album is to feature my production.”

he's stated this is mostly him behind the boards. some raps but mostly to show off his production chops
either way i'm excited. I loved Marcberg and Reloaded (currently i think i like it better than the former). and Pimpire Strikes Back was cool too

Some of Roc's beats on Reloaded just didn't do it for me, and I'm a minimalist myself. However, someone of his Pimpire beats were incredible, especially Ice Cream Man and Higher Learning. I hope he continues his trend of using more drum heavy samples.

The physical doesn't drop until the 17th. By and large digital only doesn't leak. That being said, as of tomorrow it should be just a few keystrokes (or dollars, if you're into that sort of thing) away.

Like a journalist with a promo copy or an Amazon employee who gets the CD in advance or whoever.
If it's digital only, you assume the only people with access to the album are the people who care about keeping it out of peoples hand's (the artist, the record label folks, etc.). I don't know if there's middle-men at Bandcamp or something, but if there are, maybe one of them could leak it.

The beats sound incomplete or in need of a touch up or something. On the mic he's boring as hell, that song with guilty Roc sounds like a mentally challenged Raekwon. He's worse than mediocre he's blow average. This is what passes as good nowadays?

I'm getting that feeling like I'm hearing the same 4 dope songs over and over. His somewhat stream of conscious pimpery/thugery flow feel monotonous on this as well.
I'll give it a few more listens.

You definitely know what you're getting with Roc. And if that's your cup of tea then you're generally cool with it. But there's only so many different ways you can retell the same story and still make it sound fresh or engaging.

So I'll wait until he releases another true solo album before I make any definitive declarations of redundancy. But I will say that neither the mixtape or Marci Beaucoup have commanded the repeated spins from me that his previous projects had.
