2808738, you already know, White ceo and music business plantation owners
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Wed May-29-13 09:46 AM
don't want no deep sanging brothers. the teddy pendergrass, harold melvoin, barry white, major harris, jeffrey osbourne, james ingram sanging ain't getting no play.

too black and too scary. its easier for the suits to spend loot on rappers have them sing, than to invest on a jehiem, or a dave hollister.
2808742, Prince and Michael Jackson.

2808749, before them there was Jackie wilson and little richard
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Wed May-29-13 10:20 AM
disco had a impact as well.

when you talk R&B there are alot of factors.
2808828, Prince and Michael Jackson were so successful that
Posted by MISTA MONOTONE, Wed May-29-13 02:03 PM
people chose to emulate them. that was So What's point.
2808840, yeah.
Posted by SoWhat, Wed May-29-13 02:28 PM
2808949, oh i guess Little richard and Jackie Wilson were hand me down acts?
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Wed May-29-13 09:26 PM
my badd I forgot some turkeys think all modern Music started in the 80's just like the NBA, my bust.

as if Little richard and Jackie wilson weren't popular and cats like MJ and Prince didn't watch them cats?
2808850, the problem is they didn't (couldn't) emulate them fully enough.
Posted by Joe Corn Mo, Wed May-29-13 02:48 PM
MJ studied his influences,
but he also sought out the people that influenced the people he was influenced by.

he came from a great soul tradition,
so even though he sang in a high tenor,
he still would put some grit into it like he had a pair.

his successors only emulated the high voice.
(which is why a number of my peers thought ralph tresvant and new edition
were the second coming of the Jackson 5).

2808982, it's lots of them out there... get off of mainstream radio
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Thu May-30-13 01:33 AM
and you'll hear em..

Solid young jazz cats like Jose James, Gregory Porter, Mario Biondi...

it's young guys like Jack Freeman, I,Ced Paul Randolph, lots of guys who don't use the falcetto as a primary style..

there's a lot of diversity with that music outside of the mainstream right now...
2808984, Yep
