That One Way vs Zapp post has me thinkin...it's a whole, whole, whole lot of forgotten about Funk jams that you'd have to dig deep to know about or come across. Seems like Funk may be one Genre where the best songs aren't as known, aside from the obvious classics like "Flashlight."
