2780783, New 3rd Eye Girl Song "Live Out Loud (LOL)"
Posted by nipsey, Fri Feb-22-13 12:48 PM
Hit up 3rd Eye Girl's youtube account.

This isn't a "Prince" song per se. It's a "3rd Eye Girl" song where the girls sing the vocals and I assume, play most of the instruments, but Prince's fingerprints are all over the song. The song is cool actually. It's not a "great" song, but it's kinda catchy. Back in 1985, Prince created "The Family" to get some of that "Duran Duran" money as he put it. It looks like now he's trying to get some of that "Katy Perry/Kelly Clarkson" money.

LOL!!!!!

KAP not fond of the Prince proteges meet Kelly Clarkson steez....Ha!

2780817, Thing is, I typically love this kind of pop music.

Just don't think this is a particularly noteworthy example of it.

Also: I really don't like when Prince *tries* to do "rock"

I got u on the first part....

But on the second part? Them's are fighting words!!!!....lol
2780823, I've said for years that I think Prince's 'rock' is wack.
Posted by AFKAP_of_Darkness, Fri Feb-22-13 01:48 PM
And notice that whenever I say it, I put it in quotes.

That's because for a minute, Prince was possibly the most progressive, vital, outside-the-box rock star in the world... when it seemed like he wasn't trying, just throwing a bunch of shit together: funk, New Wave, disco, rock, etc. THAT shit was forward-looking, and it seemed effortless.

But when he actually *tries* to make "rock music" he sounds hopelessly out of the loop. He falls back on the most bottom of the barrel "rock" cliches (I actually LOLed at the drumming on this track)... Sounds like a mid-level Foghat tribute band.

It sounds like he doesn't probably listen to a lot of "rock music" personally, but he listened a bunch of it like 30 years ago and was able to pick up enough to produce a workable facsimile of it. And that he did that as a "project."

Actually it sounds like a mix between Kings of Leon "Sex On Fire," a bit of Rush-reggae breakdown, and Kelly Clarkson with some Prince sheen on top...

But that "Foghat tribute"? U on fire, homie....lol!!!!!!!!!!!
2780816, It's not my cup of tea either
Posted by nipsey, Fri Feb-22-13 01:33 PM
But I can see this being a minor hit with some promotion behind it. I can easily see Kelly Clarkson singing this. So for fans of that type of music, this is right up their alley.

For those who don't know who The Organ are:

They also happen to be an all girl band.

2781039, Hmmmm...

I think the more shocking thing is P producing a "protege" song that he didn't write (Liv Warfield actually wrote the lyrics, which at times are a bit cringe-worthy...lol)...Hell, he's not even playing on this track....He's just on back-up vocals...

That dude is usually such a control freak that it's kind of strange to see dude give up the ghost in that way...That shit is a shocker...

Yeah, maybe he's trying to turn over a new leaf. He's said in a couple of interviews that he's in
recording rehab. I think Jehovah is telling him to work on his pride or something.

no it ain't Prince use to steal tracks now he is humbling himself but then again that garbage he is putting out nobody is seeing any loot off that.

even the garbage pick up crew would leave that trash on the curb.

andre cymone, morris day amongest others wrote songs for Prince, however those songs counted. not this "Lillth Fair" reject junk
2781373, thought he was playing bass

I really like that short funky part of the song and hearing this reminds me so much of how bad that I want the full version of Cosmic Day because both are rock songs but Cosmic Day features an all out piercing guitar solo and Clare Fischer orchestration arrangement which makes it incredible.
2780869, does it feature Latifah as the jazz singer of Holly Hunter's conscience?

2780947, Carlton Banks meets the Bangles
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Sat Feb-23-13 01:14 AM
Prince has stayed Accurate in the Corny department i'll give him that.

turkey needs to be banned from any studio with that corny junk he keeps putting out here.

where have the Paisley ghosts gone?
2780999, RE: Carlton Banks meets the Bangles
Posted by murph71, Sat Feb-23-13 08:08 AM

If u gonna diss a song at least get your musical markers right...

The Bangles? ...lol

Shit, I don't think your music collection extends beyond the 80's and 90's...
2781022, well i could have said Urkel meets no doubt
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Sat Feb-23-13 11:41 AM
no matter how you slice it murph that is a corny wack song and prince is long ago played out.

even the "Olsen twins" would say that mess is to milky for there burbs.
2781042, RE: well i could have said Urkel meets no doubt
Posted by murph71, Sat Feb-23-13 01:23 PM

And u still would have been played out, Maxx...Get your music game up...U know there is a music scene beyond 1999...Right?

prince has sucked since fill in the blanks only purple kool aid drinkers think otherwise meanwhile the rest of folks aside from jamming to his oldies long ago moved on from Prince.
2781031, to be fair, it is comparable to a Bangles track like 'In Your Room'
Posted by AFKAP_of_Darkness, Sat Feb-23-13 12:00 PM
2781033, murph like to downplay what i know
Posted by mistermaxxx08, Sat Feb-23-13 12:08 PM
i remember when prince was running behind the bangles like jack tripper runing behind chrissy, janet and terri.

and kap nailed it because is still operating off that old hot plate or appeasing and appealing, without any substance there.

like i said these broke go go's are a no no
2781038, RE: to be fair, it is comparable to a Bangles track like 'In Your Room'
Posted by murph71, Sat Feb-23-13 01:11 PM

Nah KAP...I don't hear it...

But if we have to go 80s I hear Pat Benetar (vocally)....

But to me, this is more a nod to pop-rock--Kelly Clarkson and even Paramore variety...The reggae/electro beat break down makes it a lot more current than the 60's inspired stuff the Bangles were doing...
2781040, I hear you.

2781143, its wack and corny basically, on that Dakota Moon tip

This is a good track.

I like Hannah's energy on the skins and her vocals. She also has a great smile and is kinda hot.

The girls are good together. They're sound is raw and not overproduced.

I don't get all the Kelly Clarkson comparisons. Other than being white.

If I absolutely had to compare.......I'd say.......Res. I can hear her doing this song.

Good stuff. I'm looking forward to more from these girls.
