2768897, "Newish" Rap Songs/Videos from young/new rappers pt. II Posted by astralblak, Thu Jan-10-13 11:25 PM
The Underachievers – 6th Sense (Capitol Steez dedication) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt87Tc5cvf4 Yup, these boys can rap their asses off. After this, Herb Shuttles, and Gold Soul Theory, their Brainfeeder LP can’t drop soon enough. Sure I’m too grown to “invest” in the weeded neo-spiritual raps, but they are so fucn good at it and have great beats, so it’s all love. The end.
Da$h & Retch – Lost Cause (PRD by Mordecai Beats) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZISO9LQvkb8
Da$h & Retch – Opposition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iij6dnJ8vk
yes, Dame’s nephew who released that shitty mixtape on Uncle’s failed label in 2011, but with his PNC Retch this shit knocks. Yes, it’s typical young nigga, money, bitches, I’m fly, weed/drugs raps, but they do it well: as in they got good voices, strong flows and string words together nicely. But the real star here is Mordecai beats. He has the ambience of Clams but a much cleaner sound and harder 808 knock. Both of these tracks are from their EP La Cienega which dropped last year
Dyme A Dozen f/ Joey Badass, CJ Fly & Capitol Steez – Swank Sinatra http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plt4uUagCXs
classic cypher pass the mic and rip shit NY music. Nuff said.
Melo-X f/ Joey Basass & CJ Fly https://soundcloud.com/meloxtra/live-from-east-flatbush-ft
Melo summoned the ghost of Rawkus 12inch past with a lovely Rhodes sample and some dusty drums. All three rappers nicely free style over it on some having fun vibes-n-stuff
Key! & Johnny (part of FatKidsBrother) – Powdered Donuts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YjSP9yTmow
simply put, when it comes to rapping, these guys aren’t very good, but got damn they have great ears for beats. They also aren’t so terrible that they take away from the beats. This song is one of my favorites from Key!’s Mothers Are The Blame Mixtape from last year. Short and to the point lo-fi boom-bap
Bodega Bamz f/ The Zombies – Thrilla http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTMriOA8J3U
One of the stand outs from Bamz’ SOLID Strictly 4 My PAPIZ Mixtape that dropped last September. Video is dope too. Bamz is just a damn good “classical” NY lyrical street rapper. Meech of Zombies is a savage
Bamz- Don Francisco http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YATVmOmm-0g
Hefna Gwap – Bobo (THNX Reuben & T Reynolds) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS_ErmhyvLs
Convo about Gwap is happening in Reuben’s thread. Should still be on the front page. This was my favorite of the bunch. Wavy
Dag Savage (Johnaz rapper & Exile, yes that Exile on the beats) – Twlight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrLHb9osS1s non-denominational “Christian” lyrical miracle rap done well, period
Nicki Minaj – Come On A Cone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl35X82lF3Q
I don’t check for Nicki like that, but I seen this pop up a couple blogs… she rappin’ (like she has the ability to) and the beat sounds like a thousand automated beez over some drums like some twisted boom-bap ratchet shit. Shits dope.
Smoke DZA – JFK (PRD by Lee Bannon) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sp5WIWsfTA
The last of the bunch. I know DZA don’t get much love here but he makes good shit IMO. I Just unzipped DZA’s KONY mixtape and I like what I’m hearing. This was my favorite. Sounds like Houston meets New York meets Brainfeeder
